今天为大家带来的是美丽厦门——南普陀的介绍

Today, we are talking something like Nanputuo temple.

南普陀是全国闻名的寺院，游客至此可以深入了解接触佛教信仰。

Nanputuo Temple is a reputed temple in China, where visitors can get in close touch with Buddhism.

该寺起源于唐代，历代屡建屡毁，清康熙二十三年（1684年）由施琅将军重建。

Originating in Tang Dynasty, the temple experienced ups and downs until 1684 when General Shilang rebuilt it.

因与浙江舟山普陀山同祀观音菩萨，又地处普陀山之南，故名。

As it is located to the south of Putuo Island in Zhejiang Province, its devotion to Bodhisattva Guanyin earns the name Nanputuo, meaning “Putuo Island in the south”.

寺内佛音缭绕，香火旺盛，进香者与游人络绎不绝，往来者都一脸虔诚。

Streams of pilgrims and visitors share the temple, where secular life and secluded life are hard to tell, yet Buddhism is on the face of people passing by.

观音菩萨在厦门信徒中占有重要位置，每逢观音诞辰的三日（农历二月十九、六月十九、九月十九），南普陀寺香火鼎盛, 人山人海。

The popularity of Bodhisattva Guanyin in Xiamen can be seen on the three birthdays of Guanyin, when local believers pour into Nanputuo Temple to pay their devotion.
