工作室画廊_项目空间很高兴地宣布第十期驻地艺术家许尤嘉在完成了两个月的驻地工作之后将在2019年9月28日（本周六）为我们呈现他的驻地项目《异乡人》。

作为一个九十年代毕业归国的艺术高材生，“老许”几乎经历了中国（包括香港）当代艺术生态发展从无到有的一切。作为一名艺术家，“异乡人”是他20年以来对自己生存状态的强烈感受。一方面，生活的际遇让他总是身处异乡；另一方面，思维观念的无法融入也让他的精神空间似乎总是悬置于某个只属于他的“故乡”。 本周六，让我们一起去看看属于这个“异乡人”的真正故乡。

StudioGallery_PROJECT space is thrilled to announce our 10th artist-in-residence Egon Xu is going to present his two months’ work ‘Outlander’ on this coming Saturday (2019.09.28).

As one of the top art students graduated and returned to China(HongKong) in the 1990s, Egon Xu almost experienced the entire development of the contemporary art scene in China (including Hong Kong) from scratch. 

As an artist, "The Outlander" is a strong feeling of his living state for this 20-year-time. On one hand, life always makes him live in a foreign place; on the other hand, the inability to integrate his aspiration makes his mental space always suspended in a "hometown" which belongs to him only. So, in this Saturday event, let's take a look at the real hometown of this "Outlander".

我总是以一个相对比较清醒的态度去观察和认识这个社会，有点像一个局外人的角度去看待一切。我喜欢这种抽离的观察世界的感觉，这让我有一种很自由，很自在，很独立的感受。

这次驻地收获最大的是让我有一种回到了英国大学时代生活的感觉。驻地空间很空旷，有白色的墙、古老的咖啡色木地板，所以在我搬进这几天之后我自己就在心里面定了一个主题：“Forever young”(永远年轻)。

驻地对我而言像是多了另外一个空间，我可以从那个空间中抽离，去看我以前的和最近的那些作品。驻地也让我感觉像是一个在艺术创作旅途中的一个加油站，让我再次向前地去工作。

近期作品关注比较多的是活在当下自身生活状态的那种感觉，比如生活里空气中的那个颜色、下雨天那个墙身、水在地板上的反光、可乐的甜味和空气中的味道，不同颜色的绿、茶里面有不同的颜色、纸张不同厚度的感觉、笔的大小和粗细。画画创作对于我来说是一个很自然的存在，画画就是画画，没有别的。

I always observe society and try to understand the society in a relatively rational status and look at everything from the position of an outsider. I like this kind of detachment to observe society and the world, which gives me a feeling of freedom, comfort, and independence. 

The biggest gain of the residency program is that I have grown a feeling of returning back to the past when I was studying in England. The project space is very empty, with white walls and old brown wooden floors, so after I moved in, I set a theme in my mind: "Forever young.”

For me, the residency program provides a space, where I can be myself and observe my previous and recent works. The project space is also like a gas station during my art journey, encourages me to continue. 

Recent works focus on the theme of living at the moment, especially what I find in my own life, such as the color of air, the wall in the rain, the reflection of water on the floor, the sweetness of cola and the color of taste.  Different colors of green and different colors of tea, different thicknesses of paper, different sizes of brushes. Painting is a very natural action for me. Just to paint, nothing else.

许尤嘉，生于中国，两岁时迁至泰国，而后在四岁回到香港生活长大，现工作生活于上海。

Egon Xu, born in China, went to Thailand at the age of 2, moved to Hong Kong at the age of 4, and grew up in Hong Kong. Now lives and works in Shanghai.
