What You Should Know about Chinese Student Visas

STUDENT VISA TYPE
X1 Visa: issued to anybody planning to spend more than 180 days studying in China.
X2 Visa: issued to individuals who plan to spend little more than 180 days studying in China.
REQUIRED MATERIALS
1.A completed visa application and a colour passport photo
One completed Visa Application and one current colour passport photo on a light background
2.Valid Passport
Original passport with at least two blank pages and at least six months of remaining validity (at least eight blank pages are required if applying to universities in Liaoning Province).
3. Evidence of legal residency or stay, if not filing for a visa in their country of citizenship
If you are not applying for a visa in your country of citizenship, you must present both the original and a photocopy of any certificates issued by the relevant authorities of the country where you are currently residing that prove your right to remain, such as proof of your residency, employment, or enrollment status.
4. A photocopy of any previous Chinese passports or visas(Applicable to foreign nationals who were Chinese citizens before obtaining a foreign citizenship)
If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you must submit a copy of the data page from your prior Chinese passport in addition to the actual passport.
If you have previously obtained Chinese visas and wish to apply for a Chinese visa with a newly issued foreign passport that does not already have a Chinese visa, you must present a photocopy of the data page of the prior passport, the photo page (if one is separate from the data page), and the previous Chinese visa page.

X1 Visa
1. The original and a copy of the admission letter from a Chinese university
2. The “Visa Application for Study in China” in both the original and a photocopy (From JW201 for CSC students or Form JW202)
