How BSB students benefit from NAE opportunities
Established in 2003, The British School of Beijing (BSB), Shunyi teaches 1,000+ students from over 60 nationalities aged between 2 and 18 years old. BSB students follow an enhanced English National Curriculum completing their I/GCSE at aged 16, and then complete the IB Diploma at aged 18. For native Germans, a German Primary Programme is also available. Year-on-year, our teachers ensure that BSB students experience accelerated learning and achieve excellent academic results, enabling them entry into the world’s leading universities.
BSB Shunyi is part of Nord Anglia Education (NAE), a family of 66 premium international schools based in 29 countries around the world, offering personalised, inspiring learning to more than 66,000 students between 2 and 18 years old.
Tomorrow's leaders will need a global mindset, and the confidence to adopt new ideas. Together with NAE, BSB offers our students an education that goes beyond grades and prepares them to achieve more than they thought possible.
So what makes an education with Nord Anglia special?
01
Our approach to learning is built on one core belief: We promise to support your child to be their best and achieve more than they ever thought possible.
We embrace innovative approaches to ensure that your child thrives as a student and as a global citizen. We promise more than a traditional education. We work with world-leading institutions and educators such as Juilliard, MIT and UNICEF to deliver programmes that will challenge and inspire your child. BSB nurtures your child to be a confident, creative global citizen with a thirst for knowledge and the vision to change the world for the better.
In collaboration with The Juilliard School, we aim to transform your child's understanding of the performing arts. All BSB students experience music, dance and drama as they form an important part of our curriculum from the age of 4 right through to middle school. Students will discover iconic works, and their creativity and collaborative skills will flourish with help from a worldwide network of performers and teachers.
The MIT-Nord Anglia STEAM Programme will open your child's eyes to the possibilities of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM). BSB students tackle challenges and workshops created by MIT experts, and develop skills that will help them invent the future. Selected BSB students also go on NAE trips to MIT where they interact directly with MIT scientists.
We work with UNICEF to introduce your child to some of the planet's most pressing issues. Through World's Largest Lesson and Global Challenges, we inspire them to think about how to change the world for the better. Every year, selected BSB Year 12 students travel to New York for the NAE-UNICEF Summit.

Behind every success is a great teacher. NAE has the global scale to recruit and retain world-class educators with a passion for teaching.
BSB teachers believe in every student and have the skill and commitment to guide them towards their dreams. They never stop learning. Collaborations with education leaders such as MIT and Juilliard bring the best learning techniques into our classrooms. NAE offers an International Masters programme with King's College London, allowing teachers to understand effective international school leadership. Through Nord Anglia University, our teachers can also pursue professional development opportunities.

All BSB students are involved in a virtual learning environment called Global Campus that only students from NAE have access to. BSB students learn and collaborate with students from 29 different countries online and beyond the classroom. They learn from experts, take part in challenges and competitions, collaborate with peers before and after regional festivals, sports events or global expeditions.

What can your child learn outside of the classroom?
BSB takes a different approach to education. NAE students grow up with a well-rounded view of the world, a passion for learning and discovery, and life-long memories of achievement and leadership.
Every year, BSB students experience engaging expeditions that build teamwork, leadership and confidence. Our Years 3 to 11 students participate in residential trips in different parts of China. Year 12 students go to Tanzania where they do charity work with the local community, learning about sustainable development and the environment. Year 13 students go to Switzerland where challenging them to persevere and push their own limits is the goal of this expedition.
