We are pleased to announce the setting up of the ULI Asia Pacific Centre for Housing. The Centre integrates ULI’s wide-ranging housing activities into a programme of work with three objectives: to catalyse housing production; provide thought leadership in the housing industry; and inspire a broader commitment to housing. It also supports ULI members and local communities in creating and sustaining a full spectrum of housing opportunities.
“The ULI Asia Pacific Centre for Housing will be key in providing practical and future-proof insights towards housing issues in the region. Through the Centre for Housing, we strive to facilitate constructive discussions around housing topics such as housing attainability and its fundamental drivers, rental housing models, emerging housing concepts, and improving the affordability of home ownership,” said David Faulkner, President of ULI Asia Pacific.
The new housing initiatives in the region align ULI’s global mission priority of increasing housing attainability. Our programme of work will be delivered through events, research, education, and advisory services for government policymakers, developers, investors, occupiers, and communities at large.
To commemorate this, we are launching the inaugural edition of the ULI Asia Pacific Home Attainability Index.
The first edition covers 28 cities in five counties in the region, and it aims to provide information that will help identify gaps in home attainability, provide better context to understand residential markets, and, over time, enable city, regional and national comparisons to inform housing production, policy, and financing decisions.
The report will be launched at the Housing Forum at the 2022 ULI Asia Pacific Summit and will be made available to the ULI community in end August.
Other topics to be addressed at the Housing Forum:
City governments' approaches and policies on housing
Rental housing
Senior Housing
Modular construction
