第十二届世界环境教育大会于2024年1月29日至2月2日在阿布扎比召开,主题是“连接人们,创造明天”(“Connecting People, Creating Tomorrow.”),世界环境教育大会(WEEC)是一个致力于环境和可持续发展教育的国际大会。大会旨在探讨如何通过环境教育应对气候变化、污染、生物多样性丧失等全球环境挑战,以及如何鼓励跨国界、跨文化和跨世代的协作。会议不仅限于传统的学术和实践交流,也鼓励采取创新形式,如艺术表演和互动活动,以丰富教育内容和参与体验。

As we wrap up an exhilarating Day 3 at the 12th World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC2024), let's take a moment to relive the impactful moments, engage with the innovative discussions and celebrate the spirit of global collaboration that has permeated throughout the day. Each moment at the Congress witnessed a dynamic symphony of ideas and aspirations, as educators, policymakers and environmentalists from across the globe came together to shape the future of Environmental Education.


Plenary 5: 

Values and Cultural Diversity in EE and ESD








The Fifth Plenary 'Values and Cultural Diversity in EE and ESD' offered insightful speeches by Mohammed Saleh Al Baidani, Dr. Anne Poelina, Lucie Sauvé and Purnima Devi Barman. Delving into 'The Dimensions' theme on Day Three, this plenary explored the profound impact of cultural values on Environmental Education and Sustainable Development. Let's celebrate diversity, learn from indigenous wisdom, and champion a more inclusive and sustainable world!



Plenary 6: 

Collaborating and Networking for EE and ESD








Plenary 6 at WEEC2024: 'Collaborating and Networking for EE and ESD' featured global thought leaders Carlos Alvarez Pereira, Judy Braus, Kartikeya Vikram Sarabhai and Daniel Schaffer, with Dr. Shepherd Urenje moderating. As we explored the Congress theme 'Connecting People, Creating Tomorrow,' the focus was on why networking, global collaborations and partnerships are vital for building global citizenship, driving transformation and expanding the reach and impact of Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development through dynamic learning communities. 


Plenary 7: Outdoor and Place-based Learning in the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration








Plenary 7 at WEEC2024: 'Outdoor and Place-based Learning in the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration'. Exciting insights from Dr. Peter Stanfield, Ginger Potter, Gayatri Raghwa and Arabella Willing with Judy Braus moderating. The Plenary explored how outdoor and place-based learning forms a crucial link connecting individuals with the natural environment.


SIDE EVENTS








Environment, Cinema and Education

In the spirit of global partnership, this Side Event delved into enhanced ecological communication and storytelling amidst climate change underscoring the vital role of cinema and media in environmental discourse. Experiences and impactful short films were shared, sparking discussions on community engagement, aesthetics, ethics and innovative awareness-building approaches. 


The Elements Unveiled: A Dialogue between Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Mankind

The Side Event transformed education by reinventing the traditional COP framework into an immersive learning journey, weaving climate expertise and MUN alumni experiences through four elemental cores - Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
