Brief Introduction:

The Department of Translation was established in 1989, and degree students were first admitted to the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Translation programme in 1991. Since then the Department has continued to grow, and currently we have about 230 undergraduate students. In 1995 the first students were admitted to our Master of Philosophy programme. We launched our first Doctor of Philosophy programme in the academic year 2000-2001. The Department is currently seeking outstanding postgraduate students with research interests that complement those of the faculty.

General requirements:

-A Master's degree in translation, linguistics, applied linguistics, or language-related fields of study awarded by a recognized university, along with a high GPA.
-A research proposal and/or sample research paper(s) that demonstrate the applicant's research abilities and potential.
-For non-native English speakers applying from non-English speaking universities, an IELTS or iBT score within 2 years (exempted for English native applicants or those applying from English-speaking universities).

Preferred attributes:

Knowledge of research with human subjects

Knowledge of research in the field of linguistics and translation

Knowledge of research with eye tracking and keylogging

Research experiences such as conference presentations, journal publications, etc.

Prefer comfort and understanding of Hong Kong research environment

The last one because there are regulations here for this type of research

The doctoral candidate should be ready to do research from day one in collaboration with supervisor

 Florin-Stefan Morar

He has previous degrees from Harvard(East Asian Studies）. French and German Universities and works with a number of European and East Asian languages: Chinese French,GermanItalian Spanish Portuguese，and of course Enalish.His research focuses on translation in the scientific exchanaes between China and theWest and on the broader field of translation studies
