The 16th Teaching and Language Corpora Conference will take place at the Manchester Metropolitan University, hosted by the Department of Languages, Information and Communications and the Manchester Centre for Research in Linguistics at the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. 。

The programme will consist of full papers, pre-conference workshops, poster sessions, as well as invited plenary talks. Papers related to the use of corpora for the learning of any language are welcome.

Topics

Topics that are within the scope of TaLC include, but are not necessarily limited to, corpus-based approaches to language learning, teaching and assessment in the following areas:

1. Teaching first and second languages (including data-driven learning materials and student-centred linguistic investigation)
2. Research on second language acquisition and learner corpus research
3. Learner language
4. Teaching languages for specific purposes, professional purposes, workplaces, business, etc.
5. Using corpora across the curriculum (including all pedagogic contexts)
6. Teaching interpreting and translation
7. Teaching literature, culture and history
8. Teaching intercultural communication
9. Developing pedagogic grammars and learner dictionaries
10. Developing corpora/tools/resources for language learning and teaching
11. Teacher education
12. Teaching of corpus methods to students and researchers
13. Mobile language learning/teaching and corpora
14. Corpora for English-medium instruction
15. Corpus linguistics, digital pedagogy, and learning technologies

Submission DetailsFor paper and poster presentations, please submit an abstract of up to 300 words (including references) here.For workshop proposals, please submit an abstract of up to 400 words (including references) here.Please see below for information about the presentation formats, topics of interest, and important dates.Presentation FormatFull papers will last 30 minutes, with a 20-minute presentation and 10 minutes for questions.Posters can present work in progress, research summaries, and presentation of technologies or approaches that you think will benefit from the genre of an academic poster. We recommend that you print posters in portrait A0 size. These will be presented throughout the conference and presenters will have the opportunity to discuss their work at dedicated poster sessions.Workshops will take place on Sunday July 7th as part of the pre-conference events.
