Tang Hua Biography

汤桦，重庆大学建筑城规学院教授，深圳汤桦建筑设计事务所有限公司主持建筑师。国家一级注册建筑师，高级建筑师，APEC Architect，英国皇家特许注册建筑师。深圳市城市规划委员会建筑与环境委员会委员，《建筑师》杂志编委，《西部人居环境学刊》编委。2012年获中国建筑学会授予当代中国百名建筑师荣誉，2018年获“重庆市工程勘察设计大师”称号，2020年获“深圳市工程勘察设计功勋大师”称号，2022年入选“2020-2022RIBA中国百位建筑师”计划。

Tang Hua, Professor of Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University, and the Chief Architect of Shenzhen Tanghua Architect & Associates, is a Grade-1 Registered Architect in China, APEC Architect, RIBA Chartered Member, committee member of the Urban Planning Board of Shenzhen (Architecture and Environmental Art Commitee), member of the editorial board of the Architect Magazine and the Human Settlements Forum in West China, one of the 100 Contemporary Architect in China per The Architectural Society of China, Engineering Survey and Design Master of Chongqing, Meritorious Master of Engineering Survey and Design of Shenzhen.

汤桦主持过近500个项目的设计，建成100余个项目，涉及文化建筑、公共机构、工业建筑、教育建筑、酒店建筑、办公建筑等领域，包括重庆广阳岛国际会议中心、重庆长江生态文明干部学院、长江生态环境学院、宁波国际会议中心、深圳市坪山区坑梓文化科技中心、成都天府国际会议中心、深圳国际艺展中心艺术小镇02-12 地块2#、广东两塘书院暨金石博物馆、成都航宇项目、重庆市第三垃圾焚烧发电厂、厦门佳逸希尔顿格芮精选酒店、昆明工人文化宫、重庆云阳市民活动中心、四川美术学院虎溪校区图书馆等。

During his career as an Architect ,Tang Hua has designed nearly 500 projects, with over 100 been eventually built, including Chongqing Guangyang Island International Conference Center,The Yangtze River Ecological Civilization Cadre College,The Yangtze River Ecological Environment College,Ningbo International Conference Center,Shenzhen Pingshan Kengzi Culture and Technology Center,Chengdu Tianfu International Conference Center,Shenzhen International Art Design Center (iADC) Art Arcade, Guangdong Riverside Academy & Epigraphy Museum, Chengdu Areospace Superalloy Technology Office & Factory Building,Chongqing Third Waste Incineration Power Plant,  Joyze Hotel Xiamen, Curio Collection by Hilton,Kunming Worker’s Palace of Culture,Chongqing  Yunyang Civic Centre,Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Huxi Campus Library etc.

汤桦主创设计的作品获得中国建筑学会建筑创作奖、香港建筑师学会两岸四地建筑大奖、全国、省市行业优秀勘察设计奖、德国设计奖等多项国内外设计大奖。作品选送成都双年展、威尼斯建筑双年展、德中文化年、德国“北京-上海-深圳，21世纪的都市”国际建筑展、德国•捷克“后实验时代的中国地域建筑”、深圳香港城市/建筑双城双年展、上海西岸2013建筑与当代艺术双年展等多个国际、国内展览。

Tang Hua has received a number of prestigious national and international design awards such as the gold award of CHINAASC Architecture Design Award of China, HKIA Cross-strait Architectural Design Awards, first prize of National Excellent Engineering Survey and Design Award and German Design Awards. The works of Tang Hua have been submitted to various exhibitions, both national and international, including Chengdu Biennale, Venice Biennale, Chinese Culture Year Exhibition in Berlin; Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen: Cities of the 21st Century in Dessau; Chinese Regional Architectural Creation in Post-Experimental Time in Karlsruhe; Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/ Architecture in Shenzhen; West Bund 2013 A Biennial of Architecture and Contemporary Art in Shanghai.

Tang Hua believes in the efficient use of resources and respects the rights and dignity of every individual. Under an appropriate and rigorous technical framework, architecture should be constructed based on regional context and professionalism.

Curatorial Prologue of

Design Chongqing Biennale 

人类正经历一场数百年未遇的“重新进化”浪潮！元宇宙的横空出世、碳中和碳达峰的掷地有声都是这场“重新进化”浪潮的微观缩影与宏观叙事。

Mankind is experiencing a wave of “R-EVOLUTION”, which has not been seen in hundreds of years! The birth of metaverse, the overwhelming influence of carbon neutrality and peak carbon dioxide emissions, are both micro epitomes and macro narrations of this wave.

《牛津词典》中“EVOLUTION进化”原意是将卷在一起（内卷）的东西打开，亦指任何事物由简单到复杂、由低级到高级的生长、变化与发展。在这场人类命运共同体进化浪潮中，设计迎来了什么？

The original meaning of “EVOLUTION” in the Oxford Dictionary is to open the things rolled together (involution). It also refers to the growth, change and development of anything from simplicity to complexity, from low-level to high-level. What will design encounter in this evolutionary wave of the community with a shared future for mankind.

毋庸置疑，这是设计的黄金时代，亦是设计产业的糟糕年代。疫情的肆意狂虐房地产的暴风骤雨给了激进的设计产业当头棒喝，混沌、内卷、迷茫、无力、困惑、彷徨充斥着整个产业。

Undoubtedly, these are both good and bad times of the design industry. The rampant pandemic and the storm of real estate have hit the radical design industry. Chaos, involution, confusion, powerlessness, and hesitation are full of the whole industry.

此时此地，“R-EVOLUTION重新进化”已经成为必然的思考。整个行业被动慢下来不正是“规律”给出的最好反思机会吗？反思设计的初心是什么，反思设计产业的原点与未来是什么，在反思中重新进化，从人出发，从设计文化本体出发，重新审视设计应有的价值与养成之道，重新思考美丽乡村重新进化、美好城市重新进化、设计簇群重新进化、生活方式重新进化……这是举办首届“设计重庆双年展”的发心。

Now, “R-EVOLUTION” has become an inevitable thinking. The passive slowing down of the whole industry provides the best opportunity for self-reflection given by the “law”. After   reflections on the original intention of design, the starting point and future of the design industry, we will r-evolve. Starting from people and the noumenon of design culture, we can re-examine the due value and cultivation of design, re-think the R-EVOLUTION of beautiful villages, cities, design clusters and lifestyles. This is the original intention for holding Design Chongqing Biennale.

当确定“R-EVOLUTION重新进化”作为设计重庆双年展的主题后，惊人的发现去掉“-”这个连接符即为EVOLUTION革命，代表重大意义的或彻底的变化。

After determining “R-EVOLUTION” as the theme of Design Chongqing Biennale, it is amazing to find that removing the “-” is the EVOLUTION, which means significant or radical changes.

是的，首届设计重庆双年展是“一座城市设计觉醒”的革命，号召所有有温度、有态度、有理想的设计师们站起来，在重庆创建联合国“设计之都”的关键时期，基于“山水之城、美丽之地”的城市母体，秉持开放的视野、执业的初心、天生为美的信念追踪重庆在全球语境下的社会变革与设计趋势，从全球与在地、时间与空间、人文与视觉、观念与技术、保护与发展、生态与美学、传统与先锋、多样性与共同体等新时代议题出发，通过展览、装置、峰会论坛、文献集等形式实现跨领域、多维度、高层次的设计融合与联通，重新找到设计的生命，重新定义设计的价值，重新进化设计的人生。

Yes, the first Design Chongqing Biennale is a revolution of “awakening the design in a city”. It calls on all designers with humanity, attitude and ideals to stand up, in this critical time when Chongqing applies for the “City of Design” of the United Nations. Based on the “city of landscape, land of beauty ” and the theme of R-EVOLUTION, with an open vision, the original intention of practicing and the belief of natural beauty, it will track the social change and design trend of Chongqing in the global context, planning to start from the new era issues such as globality and locality, time and space, humanity and vision, concept and technology, protection and development, ecology and aesthetics, tradition and pioneer, diversity and community.Through exhibitions, installations, summit forums, literature collection and other forms, it intends to achieve cross-domain, multi-dimensional and high-level design integration, and re-discover the life of design, re-define the value of design, and re-evolve the life of design.

凡是过去，皆为序章！英国历史上最伟大的作家莎士比亚写道：爱所有人，不负任何人，在灰暗的日子中，不要让冷酷的命运窃喜，命运既然来凌辱我们，就应该处之泰然，明智的人决不坐下来为失败哀号，一定要乐观地寻找办法来拯救。

What's past is prologue! William Shakespeare, considered the greatest English-speaking writer in history wrote：Love all, do wrong to none. In gray days， don't let the ruthless fate secretly rejoice. Since fate has come to insult us，we should stay calm. Wise men never sit and wail their loss, but cheerily seek how to redress their harms.

拯救，从“重新净化”开始，从“重新进化”开始。等着我们的必然是彼此成就的胜利。

Salvation starts from “RE-PURIFICATION”and “R-EVOLUTION”, which leads the inevitable victory of mutual achievements.
