Have you ever seen a company give employees severance pay in COINS?

A woman, whose surname is Zhang from, Sichuan province joined a medical beauty company named Zizhong Yunxi in April this year.

A few months later, because the company asked her to change her job position, she refused and left the company without filling upthe Handover verification form for resigned personnel.

On August 13, the company terminated its labor relationship with her on the grounds that she was absent from work.

After quitting, Ms. Zhang appealed to the labor dispute arbitration committee through labor arbitration on the grounds that the company did not sign the labor contract on time according to law, did not pay social security and did not pay overtime pay, and required the company to pay economic compensation.

Through labor arbitration, Ms. Zhang received compensation totaling more than 6,000 yuan.

On Sept. 14, when she went to the labor arbitration department to collect her compensation, the company pulled two buckets that used for medical waste with COINS in them from a tricycle.

She said the company brought her almost every coin is 1 jiao and 5 jiao  and told her to "count them one by one."

She thought the company's behavior insulting.

Ms. Zhang said she would go to the bank teller to count the money.

But the company refused and told her to count by herself.

After a quarrel ensued, Ms. Zhang went home.

"It's a way for them to entertain themselves," Zhang said.”

On September 14, the company's accountant told reporters that she did not think it was improper for the company to pay compensation to Zhang in coins.

The accountant also said: "Not just 1 jiao, there is also one yuan coins in the buckets, and they can be circulated. The labor arbitrate did not specify that we must pay 100 yuan in paper cash. I admit I didn't give the money out happily. But I think I can give it anyway I want."

Many netizens commented that even though the act was not illegal, the company’s intention was clearly to embarrass and insult Ms. Zhang.
