The Three-River-Source National Park's administration declared that all forms of tourism, expeditions, and crossing are prohibited within the park's centrally located protected sections.
It stated in a post on its official WeChat account on Wednesday that neither a group nor an individual were permitted entry into these key sites without authorization.
It cautioned that those who disobey the restriction and seriously harm the natural resources and ecological environment in the affected areas will be handed to public security agencies and held legally liable.
It stated that applications must be made to the administration by individuals who need to conduct scientific research observations and investigations in the key areas.
Only once the administration gives the go-ahead for these activities, should they begin working in the core region in accordance with authorized plans and routes.
It said that no group or person should publish any material about the park in newspapers, periodicals, or on the internet without permission from the administration.
In order to receive tips concerning violations from the general public, the administration made seven phone numbers available.
The Yangtze, Yellow, and Lancang rivers’ headwaters are found in the Three-River-Source National Park, which is also referred to as China’s “water tower” and is situated on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau’s hinterland.
It is the most vulnerable area to the effects of climate change and one of China’s top priority sites for the preservation of biodiversity.
