As a result of some people’s assertions that women shouldn’t be permitted to marry and have children while studying, a 24-year-old university student in southern China with a newborn is the subject of heated discussion on China’s social media.
A fourth-year student at Guizhou Minzu University with the last name Li gained notoriety earlier this month after posting footage of her daughter having fun on campus, according to Xinmin Evening News.
After two years of marriage to her 30-year-old husband, Li became pregnant at the end of 2021 while still a second-year university student.

“I think since we have been married and my husband’s financial situation allowed us to have a baby, why not?” Li retorted in a follow-up video that was published on May 22. I’m a student, should we cancel it and harm my body for that?”
Li claimed that her mother-in-law, who looks after her kid while she is at the college residence and writing her thesis paper, assists her.
The video displayed various diplomas and prizes she had received while attending university, and she stated that her academic standing was at the top of her class.
However, she cautioned other women who were studying to carefully analyse their situation when considering having a kid and not to follow others blindly.
In China, both men and women must be 20 years old before they can be married.
The Ministry of Education’s prohibition against university students getting married was lifted in 2004.

Li’s story has generated a lot of debate on Chinese social media.
“This gal is fantastic! She is a good student and a good mother. She truly manages to accomplish two goals at once,” one individual obsestate
Another individual mentioned the typical practise of corporations in China discriminating against young women because they are afraid they will marry and have children. “I think no company will reject a female university graduate who has got married and already has a baby,” the other person stated.
Another commentator, however, attacked Li’s decisions, saying, “I can’t accept it. I would be furious at her if she were my daughter. A young student should concentrate on their studies.
A prestigious Chinese university’s master’s degree candidate stirred up debate on social media in September when she announced she would put her studies on hold for a year in order to have a child.
