A parent from Yuelu District in Changsha, southern China's Hunan Province, published a post on social media claiming that her 9-year-old daughter was brutally injured at school by a male teacher.The incident, the parent said, took place in Bocai Meixihu Primary School. She added that the school staff did not inform her when they took the child to undergo suturing without proper examination of the wounds.When the school informed her of the incident, her child was already being prepared for suturing at the hospital.However, when she suggested they take a good look at the wound, the examination found the wound was more serious than previously thought. The daughter then underwent a 5-hour craniotomy to remove shattered skull particles and other foreign objects.The child's condition after the operation is described as critical.
The parent's post quickly garnered a lot of attention online with the majority of netizens sympathizing with her.On the morning of September 7th, the discipline teacher from the school confirmed to parents who inquired about the incident that it indeed occurred in their school's classroom on September 6th. He added that the teacher, surnamed Song, injured the child by using a set square to hit her head. Song was maintaining order in the classroom when the incident took place. He said the school staff were also surprised by the incidentThe reporter found that the male teacher involved mainly teaches computer-aided drawing and has won numerous awards in teaching competitions.In January 2021, Mr. Song taught information technology courses in 14 classes of fourth grade, and was known as the "Master of Computer Maintenance".He was praised as "diligent and eager to learn" and was described as doing everything possible to collect different versions of textbooks through various channels, screening and integrating them according to the actual situation of students. He carefully designed teaching content and is deeply loved by students.
In the 2022 Comprehensive Practice Activity Classroom Teaching Competition in Yuelu District, Song's "Wonderful Knot" won the third prize.The discipline teacher told parents that all leaders of the school and the education bureau are currently handling this matter, and the police are involved in the case.He concluded that an official notice will be issued when they complete handling the case.
Changsha Yuelu District Education Bureau released a public notice on September 7, announcing that the bureau has suspended Song and he has been put under investigation by the police.
