A loud sound of a suitcase dropped from above scared the people walking along a street in Yuyao, Ningbo City, southeast China's Zhejiang Province in December 10. The suitcase fell on a road between two high-rise buildings. There were many people passing by and there were also many cars parked on the road when the incident took place. Property management staff quickly reported the matter to the police.The police said they found the suitcase damaged due to the impact, there were clothes inside the suitcase and some were scattered around it. When they weighed the suitcase and its contents, the total was 7.65 kilograms.Police officer, Lü Tianqi, said with such a weight, the damages resulting from the impact is considered deadly, fortunately, the suitcase did not hit any person or vehicles.Lü retrieved surveillance video footage from the scene and quickly identified the perpertrator as a resident living on the 15th floor of the building—about 50 meters above the ground.A couple in their 20s live in the apartment, and when the police asked who threw the suitcase, a boy, Du, said:The police told him that they are on the 15th floor and it is not only dangerous but also a criminal offense to throw objects from height, "This is the 15th floor! What if it hits someone?" The police asked Du.Du's girlfriend told the police that he threw the suitcase from the building because they quarrelled.Du was taken to the police station for further questioning. He admitted that he was emotional at the time and threw the suitcase out of impulse. He told the police that he now realize how serious the case is and regrets it.He was criminally detained by Yuyao Public Security officers on throwing objects from height charges.
