China's top political advisory body kicked off its annual session on Saturday, marking the start of the "two sessions" in a crucial year as China gathers steam for building a great modern socialist country.

President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders attended the opening meeting of the first session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

China's State Council, the cabinet, on Tuesday unveiled a plan on reforming its institutions.The plan was submitted to the first session of the 14th National People's Congress for deliberation.The plan includes steps to restructure the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and set up a national administration for financial regulation. A new regulator for data governance will be created, the plan said.

3月7日，十四届全国人大一次会议举行第二次全体会议，听取了关于国务院机构改革方案的说明。根据国务院关于提请审议国务院机构改革方案的议案，重新组建科学技术部，优化农业农村部职责，组建国家金融监督管理总局和国家数据局。
