Hundreds of residents in Hong Kong participated in a patriotic gathering at the famous Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower Sunday morning where they sang the Chinese national anthem and other patriotic songs.
The gathering, under the theme of "Don't lose heart and start again," was regarded as a way to show residents' love for the motherland and their firm opposition against violence.
"We want to show a simple stance, that no matter what the election results are, it does not change the fact that Hong Kong is part of China," said Innes Tang, chairman of PolitiHK Social Strategic, also the organizer of the activity. He was referring to the Hong Kong district council election which ended last Sunday.
"Hong Kong is part of Chinese territory. We will continue our support for the government and we hope order can be restored in Hong Kong," added Tang.
Participants were seen waving Chinese national flags, singing the Chinese national anthem, the Cantopop song "Pearl of Orient," and other patriotic songs.
The first patriotic gathering, according to Tang, was organized on October 1, also the National Day of China.
