Free Testing Prolonged to Aug. 31 in Shanghai
At yesterday's press conference on COVID-19 prevention and control, Shanghai announced some new measures about normalized PCR testing.
Free Testing Prolonged
Shanghai has built up countless testing booths to provide "normalized testing" since May. At first, the authorities announced free testing service until June, which was then prolonged to July. Now it’s prolonged again.
From now to August 31, PCR testing will remain free. And it is very likely to be prolonged further if frequent tests are still a must-do to all residents.

From now until August 31, 2022, all people in Shanghai are required to have PCR test at least once a week. Otherwise, the health code will turn yellow. (The code will return to green within 24 hours after test performed.)
However, a negative PCR test result within 72 hours or a test record within 24 hours is still required for taking public transportation and entering public places.
