绣着各式图案的彩绸里，

包裹着多种气味芳香的中草药细末。

香包，真可谓是“秀外慧中”。

早在约三千年前就有了香包。

人们在蚊虫盛行时，

会把艾草、雄黄和檀香等香料、药材的粉末装在小布袋里，

给小孩和老人佩戴，防止他们被毒虫侵扰。

自那时起，驱邪祈福就成为了香包的主题。

徐州香包真是千姿百态，

香包的制作工艺独特，尤以绣工精美见长，

设计以出新、出奇为特色，

色彩搭配对比强烈，

在造型上敦实淳朴，形状多样、不拘一格，

有心形、元宝形、蝴蝶形，

还有花瓶形和水滴形等等，

不同形状和内料的香包，

演变出多种功能和内涵。

刺绣精致的可以用来装饰衣着、把玩欣赏，

填有药材的则多具有安神醒脑等实用功效，

古书记载，

大户人家未成年子女拜见父母时也需佩戴香包，

可见香包也有礼仪上的功能。

香包的图案也极为丰富。

有长辈青睐的梅花、菊花等吉祥图饰，

也有小朋友喜爱的动物图案，

如果是热恋中的情人，那就更加讲究了，

姑娘们会精心绣制一枚别致的香包，

让它常伴心上人左右。

Soft, dainty and fragrant, this exquisite bag is called a Chinese sachet.

Inside the colorful silk fabric are various fragrant herbal powders.

The Chinese sachet is beautiful outside and bountiful inside.

Chinese sachets date back to 3,000 years ago.

People packed them with powders of wormwood, realgar, sandalwood, and other spices and medicinal herbs. Children and the elderly wore them to ward off poisonous insects.

Since then, sachets have become the embodiment of exorcism and blessings.

Xuzhou sachets are made in varied styles and shapes. The workmanship is unique and especially well-known for its exquisite embroidery.

The design is innovative and novel, and the colors are highly contrasting.

With diverse and unconventional shapes, they may resemble a heart, an ingot, a butterfly, a vase, a waterdrop, and more.

Sachets with various shapes and fillings have different functions and meanings.

Those with delicate embroidery can be used to adorn clothing, while those filled with herbs have practical effects, such as soothing nerves and refreshing the mind.

According to ancient records, children of wealthy families would wear sachets when they paid formal visits to their parents, indicating a ritual function.

Patterns embroidered on the sachets are various, too.

There are auspicious patterns favored by the elders, such as plum blossoms and chrysanthemums, as well as animal patterns loved by children.

Young women in love also carefully embroider charming sachets and give them to their sweethearts as tokens of affection.
