The Ugly Duckling 丑小鸭
Once there was a mother duck. 从前有一只鸭妈妈。
She was sitting on seven little eggs. 她正在孵七只小鸭蛋。
One day, the eggs started to open. 一天，鸭蛋开始裂开了。
One by one, six little yellow ducklings came out of the eggs. 一个接一个，六只黄色的小鸭子从蛋里出来了。
There was still one egg left. 还有一只蛋没孵出来。
The mother duck sat on that egg again. 鸭妈妈又继续孵那只蛋。
Two days later, out came a duckling. 两天后，出来一只小鸭子。
But this duckling wasn\\\'t yellow. 可是这个小鸭子不是黄色的。
It was grey, and it had a long, thin neck. 它是灰白的，长着又细又长的脖子。
The other ducklings didn\\\'t like the grey duckling. 别的小鸭子不喜欢这个灰小鸭。
They didn\\\'t want to play with him. 他们不想和他玩。
They said he was ugly. 他们说他丑。
The little ugly duckling was sad. 丑小鸭很伤心。
Summer came. 夏天到了。
The ducklings all grew bigger, 小鸭子们都长得更大了，
and the ugly duckling was the biggest. 丑小鸭是最大的。
One day they went to a farm. 一天，他们去一个农场。
A chicken bit him, 一只鸡啄丑小鸭，
and the farmer kicked him. 农夫也踢他。
The ugly duckling felt terrible. 丑小鸭觉得心里糟糕透了。

It was very cold, 天气很冷，
and there was ice on the lake. 湖上结冰了。

Finally, spring came. 终于，春天到了。
One day, a little girl came to the lake with her mother. 一天，一个小女孩和她妈妈来到湖边。
"Look at the swan," she said, "It\\\'s beautiful!" “看那只天鹅，”她说，“它真漂亮！”
The ugly duckling looked at himself in the water. 丑小鸭看着自己在水里的影子。

He was a swan, 他是一只天鹅，
