Cover Story Metallic porous materials have attracted huge research attention and been extensively applied in the fields of sensors, electromagnetic shielding, and catalysis, due to theiroutstanding properties of large specific surface area and high specific strength. Inspired by the unique thermal plasticity of metallic glasses (MGs), Ma et al. successfully bonded sodiumchloride (i.e. table salt) with MGs and developed a facile and flexible strategy to manufacture metallic porous materials by simply dissolving in water for seconds. The prepared porous materials have excellent tenability and reusability, and the proposed approach can beused to prepare large-area disordered porous structures and even ordered miniature arrays with nanoscale fabrication accuracy, demonstrating a facile and controllable approach for the preparation of porous structures and paving the way for the design of interesting functional surfaces (see the article on page 2833).
