The unprecedented spread of a ransomware dubbed WannaCry has swept across more than 150 countries and infected more than 300,000 computers, setting off alarm bells for global internet security.

A massive global ransomware attack has struck hospitals, companies and government offices around the world, seizing control of affected computers until the victims pay a ransom. The National Health Service in the United Kingdom and global firms such as FedEx reported they had come under assault Friday.

一场大规模勒索病毒攻击席卷全球，世界各地的医院、公司和政府机关纷纷中招，受感染的电脑均遭到病毒控制，只有受害者交纳赎金才能予以解除。据称，英国国家医疗服务系统以及联邦快递等全球性公司5月12日也遭受攻击。

The ransomware, called WannaCrypt or WannaCry, locks down all the files on an infected computer and asks the computer's administrator to pay to regain control of them.

该勒索病毒叫“想解锁”或“想哭”，能锁定受感染电脑的所有文件，并要求电脑管理员支付赎金以恢复文件。

In the wake of the attack, Microsoft said it had released a patch for computers running older operating systems. The ransomware's progress has been halted by the accidental discovery late Friday of a "kill switch" hidden within the code by a security researcher.

病毒袭击爆发后，微软表示，已为运行旧版操作系统的电脑发布补丁。12日晚，一名网络安全人员无意发现隐藏在代码中的“紧急停止开关”，遏止了勒索病毒的蔓延。

No one has yet identified the culprit. As Bitcoin is set up to be untraceable, investigators will struggle to follow a money trail. Nonetheless, authorities around the world will be seeking to track down those responsible.

Lin Dan demands unpaid wages

Chinese badminton star Lin Dan, one of the country’s most popular athletes, leveraged the power of his massive social media following to demand unpaid wages of 4 million yuan from his China Badminton Super League club.

中国最受欢迎的运动员之一、羽毛球星林丹利用社交媒体的庞大力量向其所在的羽超俱乐部索要拖欠的400万元薪资。

Lin said Guangzhou Yueyu had not paid him and six others on the team for their participation in the 2016-17 season of national tournament and took to Weibo to lambast the team in front of his three million followers.

林丹称广州粤羽俱乐部尚未支付自己和其他六名队友参加全国联赛2016-17赛季应得的报酬，于是向他的300万微博粉丝吐槽俱乐部团队。

"If the club can't solve this problem, we will pursue our rights and interests through legal means," Lin wrote in the statement. 

林丹在声明中表示：“如果俱乐部不能解决问题，我们将采取法律手段，维护我们的权益！”

Gao Jun, the club's chairman, claimed that he and coaching staff had also not been paid their salaries since management of the team was transferred to the club's deputy manager, Fu Xun. 

俱乐部董事长高军称，由于团队的管理工作已移交给俱乐部副总经理付讯，他本人及教练也没有收到工资。

Gao said he would travel to Heyuan, where the club is located, to settle the issue.

高军表示将赶赴俱乐部所在的河源市解决欠薪问题。

人脸识别寻亲

Man finds parents via site

A Chinese man who was separated from his parents as a child has found his family thanks to an online facial recognition system. Fu Gui, 33, was re-connected with his birth parents after using "Baby Come Home", a Chinese website that helps people find their missing children. The website employs a facial recognition system which matches the portraits submitted by parents who are looking for their missing children and people who are trying to find their parents. This is the first time in China a missing child and their parents have been re-connected with the help of facial recognition technology. The cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology was developed by Baidu, and has been used by "Baby Come Home". The system was launched on "Baby Come Home" in March and contains thousands of pictures of missing children across the country.

Hollywood has once again taken up temporary residence on the French Riviera for the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival, which began Wednesday and runs through May 28.

第70届戛纳电影节于5月17日开幕，将持续至5月28日，好莱坞再次迁徙至法国里维埃拉地区。

Optimism is high at this year's Cannes, which features a lineup widely considered to be well-stocked with heavyweight filmmakers, including Todd Haynes ("Wonderstruck"), Sofia Coppola ("The Beguiled"), Michael Haneke ("Happy End") and Lynne Ramsay ("You Were Never Really Here").
