报告摘要
Topological quantum computing (TQC) is among the best approaches to building a large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computer. The quantum medium that performs TQC is two-dimensional topological phase matter that hosts quasi-particle excitations/anyons. Information is encoded in non-local degrees of anyons and information processing is achieved by interchanging anyons adiabatically. I will give a review of some aspects of TQC from a theoretical perspective. In particular, I will talk about a class of anyons, called metaplectic anyons, which are believed to exist in fractional quantum Hall states. It can be shown that exchanging metaplectic anyons supplemented by topologically protected charge measurement is universal for quantum computing.
主讲人介绍
Xingshan Cui is an assistant professor in the Departments of Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University. He obtained a B.S. from Zhongshan University in 2010, and a PhD from University of California Santa Barbara in 2016. He worked at Stanford as a postdoc from 2016 to 2018. Before joining Purdue, he was an assistant professor at Virginia Tech from 2018 to 2019.
