The Event

On July 5, 2023, Yale Center Beijing is pleased to invite Taisu Zhang, Professor of Law at Yale Law School and a Global Faculty Member at Peking University Law School, and Yuhua Wang, Professor of Government at Harvard University, to discuss on “The Political Structure of Late Imperial China.”

2023年7月5日，耶鲁北京中心将邀请耶鲁法学院终身教授、北京大学法学院全球教席成员张泰苏和哈佛大学政府系终身教授王裕华，展开一场“关于历史与制度的跨时空对话”。

Taisu Zhang '05, JD '08

 Professor of Law, Yale Law School

Taisu Zhang is a Professor of Law at Yale Law School and a Global Faculty Member at Peking University Law School. He is the author of two books, The Ideological Foundations of Qing Taxation: Belief Systems, Politics, and Institutions (Cambridge University Press, 2023), and The Laws and Economics of Confucianism: Kinship and Property in Pre-Industrial China and England (Cambridge University Press, 2017). These are the first two entries in a planned trilogy of books on the institutional and cultural origins of early modern economic divergence.

张泰苏，耶鲁法学院终身教授，北京大学法学院全球教席成员，有《清代财政的意识形态基础》（剑桥大学出版社2023年出版）与《儒家的法律与经济》（剑桥大学出版社2017年出版）两本专著。它们是“近现代经济、制度、与文化分流三部曲”的前两部。

Yuhua Wang is Professor of Government at Harvard University. He is the author of Tying the Autocrat’s Hands (Cambridge University Press, 2015) and The Rise and Fall of Imperial China (Princeton University Press, 2022).

哈佛大学政府系终身教授

王裕华，哈佛大学政府系终身教授。著有《缚住威权之手: 中国法治的兴起》（剑桥大学出版社2015年出版)，《古代中国的兴衰：国家发展的社会根源》（普林斯顿大学出版社2022年出版）。
