Nearly 13 million young adults entered exam rooms across China on Wednesday morning to sit for the college entrance test, or "gaokao," a record high number since matriculation resumed in 1977.

7日上午，全国近1300万年轻人走上各地考场参加高考，这是自1977年恢复高考以来报考人数最多的一年。

The exact number of applicants for this year is 12.91 million, an increase of 980,000 from last year, according to the Ministry of Education. Their exams will last from two to four days, depending on their choice of subjects.

教育部数据显示，今年全国高考报名人数1291万人，比去年增加98万人。考试将持续二到四日，具体取决于考生选择的科目。

The Ministry of Education incorporated 21 new subjects into the list of undergraduate programs last year, and many universities have subsequently readjusted their curriculums to help this year's new students meet the demands of the job market after four years of study.

Three Chinese astronauts on board the Shenzhou-15 manned spaceship returned to Earth safely on Sunday, after completing their six-month space station mission.

4日，神舟十五号载人飞船在完成为期6个月的太空任务后，搭载3名航天员安全返回地球。

Shenzhou-15's return capsule, carrying astronauts Fei Junlong, Deng Qingming and Zhang Lu, touched down at the Dongfeng landing site in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region at 6:33 a.m. (Beijing Time), according to the China Manned Space Agency.

据中国载人航天工程办公室介绍，6时33分，神舟十五号载人飞船返回舱搭载航天员费俊龙、邓清明、张陆，在内蒙古东风着陆场成功着陆。

The astronauts were in good shape, and the Shenzhou-15 manned mission was a success, the agency announced.

China launched the manned spaceship Shenzhou-15 on Nov. 29, 2022. The Shenzhou-15 crew, China's oldest mission crew in terms of average age, successfully completed four extravehicular activities (EVAs), becoming the crew to accomplish the most EVAs of all Chinese crews to date.

National Natural History Museum of China officially inaugurated

The inauguration ceremony of the National Natural History Museum of China was held in Beijing on Monday, heralding a new stage in the development of China's nature museums. Located in the southern section of the Central Axis of Beijing, the museum was renamed from the Beijing Museum of Natural History, which opened in January 1959.

国家自然博物馆揭牌仪式5日在北京举行，标志着我国自然博物馆发展历程翻开崭新一页。博物馆位于北京市中轴线南段，其前身是1959年1月开馆的北京自然博物馆。

After decades of development, the museum has made huge achievements in specimen collection and scientific research in the fields of paleontology, animal, plant and anthropology. The collection now contains more than 370,000 pieces, and the number of rare specimens is the first among domestic nature museums.
