21 New Cafés to Wake You up (Part Ⅰ)
After the lockdown, more than 20 new cafés opened up in Shanghai. In part 1, we'll introduce 10 of them. Stay tuned for part 2!
As of June 30, 2022, there are 7,857 cafés in Shanghai, making it the city with the maximum number of cafés worldwide.
Many cafés closed due to the pandemic, and the new ones have decided to take up the challenge and open.
Maison Margiela Café
The first Maison Margiela Café in Shanghai opened in JC Plaza.
Pure white giant coffee cup installations are scattered inside and outside the mall, and the café is located on the second floor.
In addition to coffee, the desserts here have a unique Margiela style.

JS·88 opened at the junction of Yongjia Road and Jiashan Road.
We recommend the American Tangerine and Pineapple Cold Brew, both of which have sparkling water added.

TO GO COFFEEE

TO GO COFFEE is a pet-friendly café.
The mung bean smoothie latte combines the traditional Chinese mung bean drink and latte and has a unique taste.

We recommend the Perilla Berries Cafe that has the sweetness and sourness of blueberry and basil juice and neutralizes the bitterness of coffee.

CITYBORING

CITYBORING is Yongpu Coffee’s physical store.
While there’s not much variety, the coffee available here is rich.

SCREAM by middle child

SCREAM by middle child has a fashion boutique on the first floor, a café on the second floor, and a roof terrace on the third floor.
Many elements from the 70s and the 80s are in the store, and you can also get Shanghai local Reeb Beer here.

Blu Shaak
Blu Shaak, which has opened 100+ stores in South Korea in three years, opened a new store at Xintiandi.

The overall design of Blu Shaak at Xintiandi follows the simplicity of the Korean stores.

Artist Of Coffee
The average price of coffee in Artist of Coffee is about RMB 20, and there are deals on Dianping where you can get coffee for just RMB 9.9.
The café owner is very skilled at Latte art.

May Café is in Gubei, where is full of Japanese restaurants.
The store focuses on Japanese self-roasted coffee during the day and transforms into an izakaya at night.
It currently sells pour-over coffee only and is known for its medium and dark roast blends.

Umiya
The café has been preparing since the beginning of the year and officially opened in June.
Iced Peppermint Coconut Milk Latte, RMB 38
The Iced Peppermint Coconut Milk Latte here has rich coconut flavors, coupled with the coolness of mint.
The cream of the sea-salt lemon cake is a bit salty, and the lemon-flavored layer in the middle has red peppers that elevate the richness of the taste.
