11-Year Old Restaurant Spicymoment Closes

Spicymoment, an 11-year old restaurant on Wuyuan Road, announced its closure on August  16^th.

Over the past 11 years, this Hunan restaurant has created fond memories for many people. Although we have to say goodbye to this old friend, the owner told us that spicymoment will have a new store, expected to open within the year.

On August 16^th, the closing night, the owner posted some black and white photos, as a silent farewell.

Delicious food and good service have earned spicymoment a lot of repeat customers over the past 11 years.

The start of spicymoment can be traced back to a designer boutique called "momentdecor" on Wuyuan Road. To meet his own eating demands, the owner turned an abandoned canteen across the road into a restaurant following a one-year renovation.

Spicymoment has always exuded a modern decor and style. Customers can order using a big screen on the wall, and every dish has both Chinese and English descriptions. These were quite advanced features at that time.

Hunan cuisine is usually stir-fried with heavy oil, but spicymoment chooses slow-frying with less oil to keep the original flavors of the food. They also update their menu every season to bring repeat customers new surprises.

Unlike most Chinese restaurants, spicymoment offers fine red wine to match their spicy Hunan food, gaining them a lot of foreign customers.

Hidden behind a door, there is a bar named “secondmoment”. In addition to single malt whisky, a variety of cocktails are also available.

Because of various reasons, spicymoment on Wuyuan Road said goodbye to us. However, we’ll be seeing them again somewhere down the road. The owner shared some information with us:

1.The new store will be located on Xingfu Road. It will be a space mixed with art, design and hotpot, expected to open in October.

2.Hunan food will still be available in the form of a "private kitchen", and reservations are required.

3.spicymoment is also planing to open stores in Singapore and London.
