The British Council is welcoming applications from experienced TEFL professionals in China for roles as full-time or freelance IELTS Speaking Examiners.

Minimum Professional Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or above
• A qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language
• At least 3 years’ full-time experience teaching EFL to students aged 16 or over (or the equivalent in part-time teaching experience)
• Demonstrable professional attributes and interpersonal skills

IELTS Speaking Examiners must be expert users of English (the equivalent of an IELTS Band 9 in Speaking and a minimum of Band 8 in Reading, Listening and Writing)

     Other Requirements (freelance position)

• A suitable homeworking environment
• Available for work for at least one weekend day most weeks
• The right to work in China without the need for a company-sponsored work permit (e.g. Chinese national or Green Card holder)
  
  Other Requirement (full-time position)

• Currently living in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Chongqing (or willing to move to one of those cities from current location in China)
