深入解读

Impersonal 因其是在熟词 personal （个人的、私人的）前面加了一个前缀 im- （不、无、非）而来，所以很容易将其误以为是用来形容某个东西“非个人所有的、非私人所有的”，实际上并非如此。

该词最早于15世纪中期由晚期拉丁语 impersonalis 进入英语后，本用作语法术语表示动词或句子“无人称的、非人称的”。比如“It's sweltering outside”这个句子中的主语 it 不指代任何人或事物。
