每日法律英语词条每日精选一个重要的法律英语词条，和梳理这个词条的含义和相关判例。

该短语subject to在法律英文中一般都跟agreement, section, contract等法律文件名或文件中特定条款名配合使用。通常可翻译成“以……为条件”、“根据……规定”、"在符合……的情况下”、以及“在不抵触……下”等。当然，不管怎么翻译，抓住：中心意思是“受制于”有关条款或须“依照”有关条款办事。

subject to如出现在主句或法律行为之前，那么它多半是前提性质的条件；若出现在句子结尾部分，则更有可能是但书式（通常是由provided that引导的条件从句）的附加限制,但在绝大多数情况下，两者其后所跟的都是某个法律文本的名称,或其它的明确条件或限制。

Subject to this section, an appeal shall be brought in such manner and shall be subject to such conditions as are prescribed by rules made under subsection (5).

在符合本条的规定下，上诉须按根据(5)款订立的规则内以订明的方式提出，并须受该规则所订明的条件规限。
