纯手工！两百米长！看江西德兴板龙灯如何点亮 | Dragon lantern

The Lantern Festival is a traditional celebration in China that has been enjoyed for more than 2,000 years. It marks the end of the Chinese New Year festivities, and is an important occasion for family reunion. 

元宵节是中国的传统节日，有两千多年的历史。按照传统，家人要在这天团聚，点起花灯以示庆贺。过完元宵节，春节庆祝才算是正式落下帷幕。

Rituals and customs vary in different parts of China, but the lantern always plays a crucial role. And at De Xing, a region in east China’s Jiangxi Province, locals still honor the traditions with hand-crafted dragon lanterns. 

中国各地庆祝元宵节的风俗与传统各不相同，但是无论在哪里，花灯都是主角。在江西省德兴一带，当地人仍然保留着手工制作板龙灯的传统。

Made with techniques that have been passed down for generations, one dragon lantern is over 200 meters long. The head and the tail are connected through 272 small lanterns placed on wooden planks. All lanterns are wrapped with paper and lit up with candles.

其中一条龙长200多米，首尾由摆着272盏小花灯的长木板链接起来。所有花灯外皮都以纸为材料，灯心由蜡烛点亮。

Carried on the shoulders of hundreds of local villagers, the lantern is paraded at night. 

元宵之夜，两百多名当地村民将花灯抗在肩上，穿行于村镇小道。

The celebration is highly popular — it is said to bring good fortune to all who participate.

为了占得一个好彩头，这样的庆祝活动每次都大受当地居民欢迎。
