Dear students,

I am writing to all Chinese students attending the University of Nottingham at our UK, China and Malaysia campuses to express my sympathy and support for you at this difficult time.

I hope that my letter finds you and your family well and that you were able to mark the lunar new year together, despite the current situation with novel coronavirus.

Of course, I can only imagine the concern that many of you will be feeling for your friends and families in China, particularly where you are apart from them while overseas in the UK or Malaysia.

However, I want you to know that your University stands with you and will support you throughout this time. If you need someone to talk to, please speak with any member of staff who can arrange support for you or contact our Support & Wellbeing Officers.

I know that our colleagues across our global campuses are taking comprehensive action to keep our community as safe as possible and that no students or staff are reporting symptoms. Our information webpages are updated daily for students based in the United Kingdom and Ningbo, China.

Our staff and students in the UK are fundraising to support the people of the city of Ningbo - you can donate via justgiving.com - and our student societies in Ningbo have raised more than 200,000 RMB to support initiatives in Wuhan.

If there is a positive lesson to draw from this dreadful situation, it is that our colleagues are all working so closely together in the interests of our global University community.

I do hope for the swiftest conclusion to these difficult circumstances. In the meantime, I wish you and your families good health and all strength and good fortune.

我谨致此函给所有在英国诺丁汉大学、宁波诺丁汉大学和马来西亚诺丁汉大学就读的中国学生。在这个困难的时刻，表达我真切的问候和支持。

面对新型冠状病毒的挑战，我祝愿你们和家人安好，希望你们能在一起共度农历新年。

当然，我只能想象你们对在中国的朋友和家人的深深担忧，尤其当你们远离家人、身处海外（英国或马来西亚）。

但是，我希望你们知道，你们的大学与你们站在一起，支持你们度过这个特殊时期。如果你们需要与人倾诉或咨询，请告知任何可以安排支持的教职员工，或与学校的身心健康指导办公室专员联系。
