Message to PhD students and supervisors

Dear PhD students and supervisors,

Hope everyone is well. Graduate school places the highest priority on the health and wellbeing of our PhD students especially during the current Coronavirus outbreak. Given that the university has delayed the start of the semester to 2nd of March, we would like to advise all PhD students and supervisors that:

1) All PhD supervision are encouraged to operate as normally as possible via online platforms such as Skype, WeChat or Outlook Meeting etc. Students are advised to keep records of the relevant PhD documents (e.g. Phd supervisory meeting forms, meeting notes etc.) via email or OneDrive.

2) Please do not access your labs, conduct fieldtrips or visit companies in China during this period. These activities will be postponed until further notice. We understand that your research progress could be affected by this and students will be given extension to their annual review, thesis submission etc. to compensate their time loss.

We would also like to inform colleagues and PhD supervisors that we have also decided to extend deadline for Faculty, Strategic and High Flyer scholarship to 31st of March, 2020. The deadline for the other scholarship categories will remain the same for the time being.
