WeChat Accounces Two Big Changes to Payment Services
On May 29th, WeChat accounced an important change for iOS users.
Due to Apple's policies and management of app developers on its platform, WeChat will temporarily discontinue support for iOS payments of purchases of non physical goods, such as VIP membership, recharging, recorded courses, recorded audio and video and other virtual products in any WeChat platform.
It's assumed the policies mentioned refer to Apple's 30% tax on payments made through apps on its devices.
Additionally, last week, WeChat also announced a change that will mean that those who are used to making money off sharing content on WeChat, may have trouble doing so starting on July 1st. WeChat's new rules state that companies will not be able to pay commission to these referring people unless they re-add those agent's to their official WeChat accounts using their phone number.
