InBene 2022-03-08

On March 20th, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, together with relevant departments, deployed a special operation to further crack down on illegal social organizations. The special action will focus on cracking down on five types of illegal social organizations.

These include:

  • Social organizations that use the name of national strategy to operate in the fields of economy, culture and charity.

  • A legal social organization with the words "China," "Chinese" and "State" or under the name of a state organ or institution that engages in fraud and other wealth creation activities.

  • Illegal social organizations operating in conjunction with legally registered social organizations.

  • Illegal social organizations carrying out selection and award activities in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC.

  • Illegal social organizations that carry out activities of pseudo-health, pseudo-national studies and mysticism, as well as activities under the guise of religion.

These organizations, for example, have recently had their websites shut down in the crack down...

(China Safety Prevention Technology and Engineering Industry Association)

(Chinese Literary and Artistic Celebrities Association)

(Organizing Committee of Asian Culture and Arts Awards)

(China International Association for the Development of a Culture of Peace)

(Jury of the World Award for the Dissemination of a Culture of Peace)

(China Art Flying Dragon Award Jury)

(Organizing Committee for the Great Cause of the Founding of the CPC)

(Chinese Traditional Art Association)

(Chinese Traditional Arts Exchange Association)

(Hebei Secretariat of Chinese Artists Association)

Three batches of 55 illegal social organization websites and their WeChat, Weibo and other new media accounts were shut down in this first action of 2021.

An official from the Ministry of Civil Affairs stated that:

the Ministry of Civil Affairs insists on "zero tolerance" for illegal social organizations. High-pressure attacks will be maintained to strengthen network monitoring and investigation, and simultaneously investigate and deal with offline and online activities. The promoters of illegal social organizations that are bad in nature and have not changed after repeated teachings, will be included in the blacklist of illegal Internet sites (sponsors) in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs reminds relevant agencies and people that they can use the "Chinese Social Organization Government Service Platform" (www.chinanpo.gov.cn) or "中国社会组织动态" (China Social Organization News) public WeChat account to check social organizations when participating in their activities. The national social organization query function provided by the account can verify the identity of social organizations to avoid being deceived.
