New Help Center For Expats with Law, Tax & Visa, Notary Services
On September 24 morning, Shekou Foreign Legal Assistance Center opening ceremony was held in Shekou Sub-district Office. Officials from foreign affairs and justice departments, foreign-related lawyers and expat residents joined and congratulated at the opening celebration.
The Center is managed by both Shekou Sub-district Office of Shenzhen Nanshan District and the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, directly offering inclusive, nonprofit, selectable legal service to expatriates in Shenzhen. The Center will mainly provide foreign-related legal consultation, legal aid, notarization, tax consulting and visa consulting services.
The Center, located on the first floor of Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats (Shekou MSCE), neighboring the Administration Service Hall of Shekou Sub-district Office, is an expansion of the Shekou MSCE free legal consulting program in 2019.
One year after Shekou MSCE launched the free legal consulting service for expats, the Staff saw the expat residents’ needs of legal services, they and the lawyer in charge of the free legal consulting program proposed the idea of setting up a center especially for foreign-related legal services.
Under the support of the Justice Bureau, the Center invited 18 professional lawyers to provide legal services. Major in different fields and proficient in foreign languages, lawyers will help expats understand local law and regulations and obtain the better application of the law through its understanding.
As said by expat representative Gannet Wystix, “Many other legal challenges will now be made simpler and friendlier now that we have a winning team here, always ready to serve and help us”.
For foreign-related notarization service, it will be handled by foreign languages-speaking staff from Qianhai Notary Office. The nine categories of notarization cover many aspects of expats’ living and working in Shenzhen, which bring a lot of convenience to international schools, foreign-related companies and residents.
Along with the opening of the Center, Case Study series on foreign-related law will also be dispatched to expat residents as legal guidance. It has been compiled by professional foreign-related lawyer invited by Shekou MSCE, covering many actual-life cases encountered by Shekou Police Station and the lawyer. It aims to cultivate legal awareness of expat residents and help them solve legal issues.
