李 白

小时不识月，呼作白玉盘。

又疑瑶台镜，飞在青云端。

仙人垂两足，桂树何团团。

白兔捣药成，问言与谁餐。

蟾蜍蚀圆影，大明夜已残。

羿昔落九乌，天人清且安。

阴精此沦惑，去去不足观。

忧来其如何，凄怆摧心肝。

李 白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，又号“谪仙人”，是唐代伟大的浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。据《新唐书》记载，李白为兴圣皇帝（凉武昭王李暠）九世孙，与李唐诸王同宗。其人爽朗大方，爱饮酒作诗，喜交友。
LI Bai (701-762), Venus by courtesy name and Green Lotus and Exiled Immortal by literary names, an excellent romantic poet in the Tang dynasty, has been praised as “God of Poetry”. According to New Book of the Tang Dynasty, Li descended from Emperor Xingsheng (i.e. Li Hao, Lord Martial Glare of Liang), and had the same ancestry with the royal family, the Li House in the Tang dynasty. He was hearty, generous, and keen on drinking, composing poems and making friends. 

The Bright Moon

When small I did not know the moon;

I called it a plate of white jade.

And a fay’s mirror it might be

That flew to the clouds and there stayed.

An immortal spread its legs there,

And a cassia tree looked so fine.

White Hair pestled herb medicine;

“May I ask who will come to dine?”

Then a toad came to eat the moon;

Which waned bit by bit, day by day.

Once King Archer shot off nine suns

So that Heaven and men could stay.

Shade Spirit stole the shine of moon

So Luna’s not good to look at.

How worried a person can be?

I am saddened and grieved like that.
