小白老师说：本着 “宁可错杀，不可放过” 的原则，再给大家预测一个作文题——“远程医疗”。疫情之下，远程医疗是热点，2020年全国统考的听力和2021年的阅读理解都有考到这个主题，但是作文还没有考过。还是那句话，主要目的是练兵，万一考到，有备无患。

远程医疗之现状

Telemedicine has been steadily on the rise for years.

The COVID-19 pandemic is accelerating the transition to a new model of remotely delivered health care that embraces the benefits of digital and data technologies.

For any infectious disease, including the seasonal flu, clinics will not want to risk exposing other patients and their family members as they sit in waiting rooms, nor risk infecting medical workers. 

远程医疗的优势

Medical practice over the Internet can result in faster diagnoses and treatments, increasing the efficiency of care and relieving patient stress.

Without having to travel to a doctor’s office or clinic, patients can have many ailments “seen” online. 

Telemedicine can also provide easy medical access to patients who live in rural communities

The increasingly widespread implementation of telehealth is due, in large part, to the belief that it will reduce costs and improve access to care, especially for underserved populations and residents of rural areas. 

远程医疗之劣势

Telemedicine isn’t a solution for every health problem. And patients with limited digital fluency and access may get left behind as reliance on telemedicine grows.

However, the path towards making telemedicine a mainstay of medical practice is not entirely smooth. 

Most health systems around the world have still not built digital platforms to conduct televisits. And patients are concerned that their medical data may be hacked or sold.

There is a limit to what telemedicine can do. 

Telemedicine will never fully substitute for an in-person visit, lacking the ability to conduct a physical examination and a deep inter-human connection. 

While some people favor the expanding of telemedicine services, others are concerned about the technology’s cost and potential for fraud.

远程医疗的前景

Telemedicine will definitely be part of the future of medicine.

Telemedicine holds great promise within mainstream health care.

The pandemic may present an opportunity to reshape the future of emergency medicine. If the shift to greater use of telemedicine continues after the pandemic, it could reduce reliance on the emergency room, where crowding has long been a problem.

It is important to acknowledge that other pandemics will be part of our future. Now is the time to harness the potential of the technology to provide better and more efficient health care.
