【不离】法王如意宝：这样的弟子才是真正的法器
师恩重于佛恩
Our Teacher’s Kindness Surpasses the Buddha’s
我们在评论一个人、一件事时，
When we judge someone or something,
千万不要以凡夫之见去洞察断决，
we must not observe and judge with the views of a worldly person.
一定一定要谨慎！
We really need to be prudent!
对恶人不要赞叹，
Do not praise evil people.
若不是大德，就不要将其吹捧为大德。
If a person is not a great master, do not tout him or her as one.
而对真正的大德，不应肆意讥毁，
However, you should not ridicule authentic great masters at will,
或以凡夫之心去妄加推测而诽谤。
or presume to speculate about them and slander them with a worldly mind.
不管是大上师还是小上师，
Be they senior teachers or junior ones,
无论名声是否广大，
renowned teachers or unknowns,
只要在他面前得过佛法，
so long as we have received the Buddhadharma from them,
他就是自己的上师，
they are our gurus.
对此我们应感恩不尽。
For this, we ought to remain eternally grateful.
从前，在释迦牟尼佛时代，
During the time of Shakyamuni Buddha,
有一位菩萨尊者，在五比丘之一的大德比丘座下发起了出离心。
one venerable bodhisattva renounced samsara under the guidance of Bhikshu Mahanaman, who was one of Buddha’s five earliest disciples.
后来，当他见到大德比丘和佛陀在一起时，
Later, when this bodhisattva saw Bhikshu Mahanaman together with Buddha,
首先顶礼了自己的上师，
he first prostrated to Bhikshu Mahanaman, his direct teacher,
再顶礼释迦牟尼佛。
and then to Shakyamuni Buddha.
佛陀见后连声赞叹：
Upon seeing this, Buddha praised him profusely:
“你做得很对！在哪一位上师面前受过法恩，就应该先对他顶礼。”
“Your conduct is correct! You should always first pay homage to the teacher whose kindness you have received.”
按理来说，大德比丘的智慧和功德，肯定不及佛陀，
Bhikshu Mahanaman’s wisdom and virtue certainly did not compare to those of Buddha.
但佛陀之所以这样做，就是为了提醒大家不能忘记上师的恩德。
But Buddha said this to remind everyone never to forget the kindness of his or her guru.
真正有智慧的人，哪怕获得一点点修行境界，也很清楚这并非靠一己之力，而是源于上师的慈悲加持，
Truly wise people know that even the most minimal states of realization they attain are not due solely to their own efforts but occur through the compassionate blessings of their teacher.
进而对上师感恩戴德，并从言语中时时表现出来。
They feel deeply grateful for their teacher’s kindness and always show this with their words.
与之相反，一些品行低劣的人，见到声名远播、财富丰足的上师，才把他认成自己的上师；
In contrast, people of lowly character consider only renowned and wealthy teachers to be their own teacher.
而那些知足少欲、具足法相的上师，就算从他那儿得过很多法，自己也不愿意说出口。
When it comes to authentic, qualified Dharma teachers who are content and crave little, even if the students have received many teachings from them, they are unwilling to admit it.
如此对小上师保密、大上师宣扬，实在是一种可笑的行为。
To be so secretive about one’s own unknown guru yet brag about a famous one is really ridiculous behavior.
这种人得到一些殊胜教言，从不认为是上师的恩德，
When these people receive sublime teachings, they never consider it to be through the kindness of their teacher.
反而觉得是自己智慧和福报过人，跟上师没有任何关系。
Instead, they believe that it is due to their own unparalleled wisdom and merit and that it has nothing whatsoever to do with their teacher.
他们最初对上师毕恭毕敬，
In the beginning, they are reverent and respectful to their teacher;
但得到教言后就舍弃了上师，
as soon as they have received teachings, they discard their teacher.
如同有些病人，病好后就一走了之，再也不理睬医生了。
It is like some patients who turn a cold shoulder to their doctor as soon as they are healed.
这不是真正的法器！
This is not a true Dharma vessel.
这种愚笨的人自高自满，
Such foolish people are full of pride;
不知道上师的殊胜，将证悟的缘分已经完全断送了。
they do not know the sublime nature of teachers and have completely forfeited their conditions for enlightenment.
他就算悟性再高、闻思再广，
No matter how great their ability to understand or how broad their knowledge,
也根本得不到任何成就。
they will never gain any spiritual attainment.
