SECTION 16. Earmark the Fund for Its Specified Purpose
如果施主的供养包含居士在内,那就有居士们一份,
If the beneficiaries of some particular patronage include lay practitioners, then lay practitioners should get their portion;
但像给沙弥、比丘供斋之类的,居士就没有资格享用。
however, if patronage is specifically offered to novice monks and fully ordained monks, then lay practitioners have no privilege to enjoy it.
这个问题,我们经过再三分析商量,基本上能确定下来。
We can decide this issue through thorough analysis and discussion.
听说前几天居士林那边念了经,得到一点儿钱,如果分,每个人分不到多少,于是他们就放在“放鱼款”里了。
I am told that a lay practitioner group received some offering after they chanted prayers, but if they allocated the money, everyone would get only a very small amount, so they put that offering in a fund for releasing fish.
可是,这行不行?
But would this work out?
是成了善法还是成了罪业?
Would this make their activity virtuous or faulty?
只有佛陀与僧众才能确定,其他人是无法断定的。
This can only be ascertained by the Buddha and the Sangha, not anyone else.
《百业经》中说:夏季收入的,却冬季分;冬季收入的,却夏季分;供养佛像右边的,却供养左边;供养左边的,却供养右边。
“If offerings received in summer are allocated in winter, or the other way around, and if offerings for the right side of a Buddha statue are used on the left side, or conversely,
如此,就算是比丘也要感受痛苦,纵经成百上千佛出世也不能解脱。
then even if conducted by fully ordained monks, they have to experience sufferings without liberation until hundreds and thousands of future buddhas appear in this world.”
这样的公案,在《百业经》等佛经里是有记载的。
These kinds of stories have been collected in many Buddhist sutras.
所以,你们绝对没有权利那样做。
In the collection of sutra stories called the One Hundred on Karma (Karmaśataka), it was stated: Therefore you definitely have no right to accept an offering meant for another.
施主们要供养谁,就必须供给他。
We must make sure patron offerings are given to the persons or causes intended.
如果是供养僧众的,那就分给僧众。
If it is offered to the Sangha, we give it to the Sangha.
如果是供养放生款的,“我们不用于放生而让僧众吃掉”,懂道理的人,恐怕谁也不会这样说。
If it is offered with the particular purpose of releasing animals, anyone with basic intelligence would not dare to claim: “Let’s use it to buy food for the Sangha instead of releasing animals.”
居士们若有不能决定的事,必须由四位比丘以上的僧团,有理有据地进行断定,
If lay practitioners cannot decide on an issue, it must be reported to a Sangha of at least four fully ordained monks who can ascertain it with logic and rules,
不能随随便便说“这样为好、这样有利”等像做生意一样。
forsaking careless remarks, as if it were a business chat: “It’s a good deal! It will profit us.”
