Hong Kong / Mainland Border Crossing Restrictions Tightened

At 11:36 pm on July 16th, the Official WeChat account of the "Shenzhen Port" issued the "Shenzhen New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters' Notice on Adjusting the Prevention and Control Measures for Inbound Persons from Hong Kong via Shenzhen Port."


The announcement is as follows↓↓

In order to properly respond to the recent changes in Hong Kong’s new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, and to ensure the safety, health, and customs clearance of immigration personnel passing through Shenzhen Port, after communication and consultation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, the following notice is hereby announced:
From 10:00 a.m. on July 17, 2020, entry personnel from Hong Kong via Shenzhen Port must have a negative result of nucleic acid test within 72 hours issued by a qualified testing institution recognized by the Hong Kong SAR Government and accept 14 days of concentrated isolation medical observation. Important official business personnel, cross-border truck drivers, cross-border students who have been approved to be exempted from entry segregation, and personnel who comply with the policy of mutual recognition of isolation medical observation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, shall continue to implement the current regulations.

Previous, on April 26, the Shenzhen Port released the news of the epidemic prevention and control deployment requiring quarantine but no test:


According to the unified deployment of the provincial epidemic prevention and control work, from 8:00 on April 28th, all entry personnel who pass through the Shenzhen port will need to quarantine medical observation in Shenzhen for 14 days. Please make preparations in advance.


In a circular issued on April 30, it was announced that from 8:00 on April 28, ordinary passengers entering Shenzhen through Hong Kong through the port will not be distinguished based on their final destinations, and will arrange for 14 days of centralized isolation at their own expense in Shenzhen City.




Last night’s latest announcement added “when you enter, you must hold a negative nucleic acid test result certificate issued by a qualified testing agency recognized by the Hong Kong SAR Government within 72 hours.”

Hong Kong added 67 cases yesterday

According to news from the Health Protection Center of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, as of 17:00 on July 16, 67 new cases of new coronavirus pneumonia were confirmed in Hong Kong in a single day. Among them, 4 cases were imported from abroad, and the remaining 63 cases were local cases. Among them, 28 cases are related to the group where multiple confirmed cases have been found before, and 35 cases have yet to be identified. Up to now, 1655 cases have been diagnosed in Hong Kong.

Among the newly confirmed cases, one was a nurse at Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital. Two employees of Queen Elizabeth Hospital have been diagnosed one after another. The hospital has been diagnosed with at least three patients living in the general ward.
