Jamie P. Horsley(贺诗礼)
Jamie Horsley is Senior Fellow at the Paul Tsai China Center and a Visiting Lecturer-in-Law at Yale Law School, as well as a Visiting Fellow at The Brookings Institution John L. Thornton China Center in Washington, D.C. She formerly was Executive Director of the Yale China Law Center and has been at Yale since April 2002.
Her project work and research for the past 16 years at Yale primarily has involved issues of governance, administrative law and regulatory reform in China, including promoting government transparency, public participation, improved administrative procedures and dispute resolution, and government accountability.
Prior to joining Yale, she was a partner in the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison; Commercial Attaché in the U.S. Embassies in Beijing and Manila; Vice President of Motorola International, Inc. and Director of Government Relations for China for Motorola, Inc.; and a consultant to The Carter Center on village elections in China.
A member and former Director of the National Committee for US-China Relations, she holds a B.A. from Stanford University, an M.A. in Chinese Studies from the University of Michigan, a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Diploma in Chinese Law from the University of East Asia, Macao PRC. She speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese and lived, studied and worked in the Greater China area for 12 years.
Seth D. Harris
Seth D. Harris is an attorney in Washington, D.C. and a Visiting Professor at Cornell University’s Institute for Public Affairs. Building on almost seven years of service in the Clinton Administration, he was Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor (and a member of President Obama’s Cabinet) and Deputy U.S. Secretary of Labor from 2009 to 2014. Now, Secretary Harris is one of the nation’s most sought-after analysts and commentators on work, workers, workplaces, labor market issues, and government performance, and a leading expert on labor and employment law and policy and retirement policy.
Secretary Harris brings decades of experience as a teacher and scholar, attorney and advisor, corporate board member, and policymaker at the highest levels of the U.S. Government. He has co-authored three books, including Labor and Employment Law & Economics, and authored dozens of scholarly articles and op-eds on labor, employment, government performance, retirement, and economics topics. Harris offers unique and valuable insights into leadership in public policy and public affairs, as well as his insider’s knowledge of the Obama Administration and the federal government’s executive branch.
Secretary Harris earned a bachelor of science degree with honors from Cornell University’s School of Industrial & Labor Relations and a juris doctor with honors from New York University’s School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and editor-in-chief of the Review of Law & Social Change.
Orly Lobel
Orly Lobel is the Don Weckstein Professor of Law and founding member of the Center for Intellectual Property Law and Markets at the University of San Diego. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Lobel’s interdisciplinary research is published widely in the top journals in law, economics, and psychology.
She is the award winning author several books and numerous articles. Her most recent book, You Don’t Own Me: How Mattel v. MGA Entertainment Exposed Barbie’s Dark Side (Norton 2017) won the Gold Medal Independent Publisher’s Award 2018 as well as the Thornes Prize for Outstanding Legal Scholarship. Her book Talent Wants to Be Free: Why We Should Learn to Love Leaks, Raids and Free Riding (Yale University Press 2013), is the winner of several prestigious awards, including Gold Medal Axiom Best Business Books 2014, Gold Medal Independent Publisher’s Award 2014, the 2015 Gold Medal of Next Generation Indie Books and Winner of the International Book Awards for Best Business Book. In 2016 Lobel was invited to Washington DC to present Talent Wants to be Free at the White House, a meeting which resulted in a presidential call for action.
Lobel’s work has been featured in The New York Times, The Economist, BusinessWeek, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, The Sunday Times, Globe and Mail, Marketplace, Huffington Post, CNBC, and CNN Money. Her scholarship and research has received significant grants and awards, including from the ABA, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Fulbright, and the Searle-Kauffman Foundation.
She is a member of the American Law Institute and served as a fellow at Harvard University Center for Ethics and the Professions, the Kennedy School of Government, and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. She serves on the advisory boards of the San Diego Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society, the Employee Rights Center, and the Oxford Handbook on Governance.
