“校园是我觉得最安全的地方”——留学生利恩的“宅校“生活 Life on campus during the epidemic

2月6日上午9时许，记者来到宁波诺丁汉大学11号公寓楼里，利恩手机响起嘟嘟提示音。“每日一课！”每天，他都准点收到辅导员发来的今日份英文版“防疫小指南”，当天的有防控“十二条”、地铁停运和返校通知，利恩不太流利地用中文说。

疫情改变了很多人的生活，就读该校理工学院学习土木工程四年级的利恩也不例外。“仿佛包下整个楼面，前所未有的安静。”利恩指着空荡荡的走廊说，这一层楼只住他一人。

起初，他很想回英国，父母更是每隔2小时打来电话，甚至数年没联络的朋友也急切询问。进校门、进宿舍楼测量体温，出门随戴口罩，接受辅导员在线动向和身体状况询问，这些成了他生活标配。

“现在，校园是我觉得最安全的地方。如果回英国，坐很久的飞机，这反倒不安心。中国政府采取非常果断的措施防控疫情，我相信中国完全有能力解决这次疫情。”利恩还给记者展示了一份宅居计划表，透着英式严谨，标注任务和时间：完成一份研究计划，做一日三餐和运动。

烤鸡肉+薯条，五彩烤鸡腿……他的社交网络上，这些天尽是厨艺展示。看到朋友们的点赞，他留言道“尽了最大努力”。利恩说，现在做菜需要的食材可以在宿舍楼前台登记代买。学校的超市每天早上9点开门，下午5点关门。他可以很方便地购买到食物。

聊着，宿管沈阿姨进门测体温，顺便帮他解决了洗衣房里烘干机突然有些失灵的麻烦。他说，阿姨不容易，每天照顾他，还要重点消毒公共区域。

利恩说，现在有60名左右外籍学生跟他一样选择居住在宁波诺丁汉大学校园里，每个人都有一位辅导员和一位宿管阿姨结对关注，还有专门的在校生交流服务群，心贴心地交流和服务让他心安了，远在国外的父母朋友也通过社交软件给他打气，顺利度过这非常时期。

学校如常供应一日三餐，每餐有10多个特色菜以满足不同同籍学生需要。陪同采访的学校学生事务与发展中心主任张赟说，学校一定全力保障他们的身心健康。

Life on campus during the present epidemic

The coronavirus infection has affected the lives of many and also attracted widespread attention overseas, with many concerned for their friends and families in China. At UNNC, a number of staff and students spent the winter break on campus, and many currently face great inconvenience due to new municipal regulations brought in to help control the virus. The University has responded quickly to regulations aimed at bringing the new coronavirus infection under control. Such measures are entirely targeted at ensuring the health and safety of our staff and students and protect all on campus and beyond.

Liam, a Year four student of Civil Engineering from Saudi Arabia, is one student who remained on campus for the whole winter break. Every day Liam receives updates and guidance on epidemic prevention from his personal tutor. “I’m well informed of the national epidemic controls and local measures against the coronavirus, like the ‘Twelve Regulations’ of Ningbo and the suspension of subway,” Liam said.

At the beginning, Liam’s parents and friends were quite worried and kept asking him about the latest situation. However, with the quick response of the University, Liam got used to life on campus, wearing a mask when going out and keeping in close touch with his personal tutor.

Now Liam considers remaining on campus much safer than traveling all the way back to the UK. When speaking of staying at the dormitory, Liam says he works on his research proposal, cooking meals for himself and exercising indoors. The front desk of dormitory buildings will help to purchase the ingredients he needs for cooking. Liam appreciates the efficiency and responsiveness of government actions regarding the epidemic control: “I believe the virus will be defeated very soon.”

Currently, there are approximately 60 international students from over 10 countries living on campus. Student accommodation officers conduct regular disinfection in public areas, take charge of facility maintenance, form and respond to concerns raised in a special group chat of students on campus, and pair with them to provide support and guidance. The supermarket on campus opens from 9am to 5pm and the University canteen is also operating to provide three meals a day. David Zhang, Director of the Department of Campus Life, said that the University would make the best efforts to ensure the safety and health of all students and staff.
