📍 make waves有“(故意)兴风作浪,挑起事端;咋咋呼呼;大肆张扬”的含义,英文解释为“to be very active so that other people notice you, often in a way that intentionally causes trouble”举个🌰:
It's probably not a good idea to start making waves in your first day in a new job.
I turned my back on him because I didn't wanna make waves.
前阵子很火的CNN主播和州长兄弟直播时争宠文中也提到了:the news anchor and the New York governor debated the family issue as they wrapped up their interview about the pandemic on CNN Monday night.
wrap up表示“圆满完成,达成(协议);结束”,英文解释为“to complete something successfully”举个🌰:
Ministers wrap up their meeting in China today.
🎬很巧,电影《布达佩斯大饭店》(The Grand Budapest Hotel)中的台词提到刚才说的make waves和wrap up,原句:Just wrap it up and don't make waves. Agreed?
📍 abuzz /əˈbʌz/ 本身表示“喧闹纷乱的;嘈杂的;忙乱的”(filled with noise and activity)举个🌰:
When we arrived, the room was abuzz.
If someone says that a place is abuzz with rumours or plans, they mean that everyone there is excited about them.
(If you describe someone or something as cutesy, you dislike them because you think they are unpleasantly pretty and sentimental.)
📍 swap ... for ...在黑名单相关表述将被弃用一文中就提到了,表示“调换,交换”,英文解释为“If you swap one thing for another, you remove the first thing and replace it with the second, or you stop doing the first thing and start doing the second.”

You'd steal from the corner shop, but it was me who'd brave the old man's belt.
2》(Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest)中的台词提到:But if you go and brave the weird and haunted shores at world's end,
📍 episode /ˈɛpɪˌsəʊd/ 表示“(电视连续剧或广播连载节目中的)一集”,英文解释为“a television or radio programme that is one of a series of programmes in which the same story is continued each week”。
📍 最后一集finale:the last part of a piece of music or of a show, event etc (演出的)终场,最后一幕;(音乐的)终曲;(事件等的)结尾
📍 spark表示“引发”,英文解释为“If one thing sparks another, the first thing cause the second thing to start happening.”
My teacher organized a unit on computer science that really sparked my interest.
Bilibili's May 4th Youth Day video sparks discussion on social media
📍 rally一词表示“止跌回升;恢复;复原;重新振作”(an act of returning to a strong position after a period of difficulty or weakness),
After a brief rally the shares returned to $10.00.
trend作动词,表示“(某一时刻在社交媒体或网站上)被提及最多的词语(主题或名字)”,英文解释为“to be one of the words, subjects, or names that is being mentioned most often on a social media website or a news website at a particular time”举个🌰:
Within minutes of the incident her name was trending on Weibo.
trend原意有“趋势;趋向;倾向;动态;动向”(a general direction in which a situation is changing or developing);

📍 all the rage表示“风靡一时,非常时兴,十分流行”(to be very popular at a particular time),此前在印度新婚夫妇在自家厕所自拍可获政府奖励文中就提到Pre-wedding toilet selfies are becoming all the rage in Madhya Pradesh.
Long hair for men was all the rage in the 70s.
📍 established形容词,可以表示“(因为优秀而)被认可的,著名的”,英文解释为“used for describing someone who is known for doing a job well, because they have been doing it for a long time”,如:an established artist/star 著名艺术家/明星。
A-list,B-list.
📍 A-list表示“知名的,成功的”(used for describing people who are the most famous),如:A-list celebrities 一线明星。B-list就表示“ 二流的”(used for describing people who are quite famous but not as famous as the A-list people),如:B-list actors 二流演员。
This was an Alist school before they came here.
有时候也直接说Z-list,指的就是“末流的”的了(used to describe people who are only slightly famous, or who are famous but not for doing anything special )。
