【不离】法王如意宝：依止上师是越多越好，还是越少越好？
依止上师不要喜新厌旧
Do Not Be Enamored with the New and Tired of the Old
昔日，阿底峡尊者一生依止过很多上师。
In the old days, the Venerable Atisha followed many teachers in his life.
在这些上师中，有的功德超过他，有的则与他平等，有的还不如他。
Some of these teachers’ virtues were greater than his, some equal to his, and some inferior to his.
但不管怎样，他对每一位上师都心怀感恩，非常恭敬。
But no matter what, he was full of gratitude toward each teacher and very reverent.
而仲敦巴，一生只有两位上师：一位是居士身份的上师，一位是阿底峡尊者。
By contrast, Dromtönpa had only two teachers in his life: one was a lay Dharma teacher, and one was Venerable Atisha.
后来，博多瓦问上师：“像仲敦巴那样依止的上师少好，还是像阿底峡尊者那样依止的上师多好呢？”
Later, Putowa asked his teacher Dromtönpa, “Is it better to be like you and follow few teachers or to be like Venerable Atisha and follow many?”
上师告诉他：“如果你清净心修得好，那依止的上师越多越好；
Dromtönpa told him, “If you have cultivated a pure mind, then the more teachers you follow, the better.
但若清净心不足，总喜欢观察上师的过失，依止的上师越少越好。”
But if your mind is not sufficiently pure and you are always looking for your teacher’s flaws, then the fewer teachers you follow, the better.”
当今时代，很多人遇到一个上师，立刻就跑去恭敬供养，
These days, many people will rush to honor and make offerings to a teacher as soon as they meet him or her.
但过不了多久，又觉得上师有诸多毛病，于是将其舍弃，甚至还到处诽谤；
Yet they soon begin to feel that this teacher has many flaws, so they reject and may even slander their teacher.
还有些人经常试探上师，
There are also people who frequently test their teacher;
本来想着这一件事，口头却说另一件，
they think of one thing but will say another.
这样依止的上师再多，对自己也没有任何益处。
If you behave in this manner, it will not benefit you in the slightest no matter how many teachers you follow.
所以，对大多数人而言，一生中只依止少数几位上师即可，
Hence, for most people, it is enough just to follow a few teachers in one’s life.
不要总是喜新厌旧，到处寻找“新鲜”的上师！
Do not always be fond of the new and quickly tire of the old, seeking out “fresh” teachers everywhere!
