SECTION 19. Exchange Oneself with Others
从今以后，只要你们打狗，那就跟打我一模一样。
From now on, if you beat dogs, it is exactly the same as beating me.
有的僧人装英勇，用大大的石头如雨点般打到狗身上，我实在忍不了。
Some monastics pretend to be heroic, so they throw big rocks, like raindrops, at dogs. This is really the end of my forbearance.
说起来好像是假装的，但你们在那边打狗时，我心里的确非常非常刺痛。
It sounds like I am lying, but when you beat dogs anywhere, I do feel sharp pain in my heart here.
它们也是我的责任，拜托你们了！
I have the responsibility to protect them as well, so please refrain!
从牧区来的那些在家人，我们没法控制，他们会打，也没办法。
As to the householders from pastoral areas, they are beyond our control. They get used to beating dogs and we can do nothing about it,
三恶趣的众生恒常都在感受痛苦，我们也无可奈何。
just as we can do nothing for sentient beings in the three lower realms who constantly experience unbearable sufferings.
可是，凡属于我的眷属、把我当成上师的人，对一切众生都不能加害，尤其是不要打我们周围的这些老狗，不要伤害这些众生。
However, anyone from my retinue, anyone regarding me as his or her guru, please quit harming any sentient beings, especially these old dogs around us.

确实，有时想到浊世众生因业力显现的痛苦，似乎坐都坐不住，特别是当亲眼见到、亲耳听到，就更难受了。
Indeed, sometimes when I recall the suffering of sentient beings in the degeneration time, ripened through the power of their karma, I feel so restless that I cannot sit still, and I feel even worse if I see or hear their suffering in person.
想想每个进入屠宰场的牲畜，因业所感的痛苦，真的很恐怖。
Think about each farm animal sent to a slaughterhouse. The suffering they have to experience due to their karma is indeed terrifying.
它们在牧区被收购上来后，到目的地之间，一直被装在车里，上下嘴唇被铁钉钉上，据说这样不咀嚼就不会消瘦。
They are purchased in pasture and thrown into trucks, their lips nailed shut because it is said they will not lose weight if they do not chew.
到了屠宰场，它们所感受的各种痛苦，除了时间短以外，恐怕跟地狱痛苦没什么差别。
The various sufferings they then experience in the slaughterhouse are not much different from the sufferings of hells, except theirs is for a shorter duration.
一想到它们，心脏病都要发作了，可对此也无计可施。
Every time they come to my mind, I feel as if I were about to have a heart attack, but we could do nothing about their plight.
