The third annual US-China Entertainment Law Conference will bring together senior policymakers, academics, business executives and international practitioners from China and the U.S. to discuss cutting-edge legal issues in the US-China entertainment industry including but not limited to the following:
(1) Year in Review: What is Happening in the US-China Entertainment Industry?
(2) IP Issues in the US-China Film Industry;
(3) IP issues in the US-China Gaming Industry;
(4) Cross-Border IP Enforcement in the Entertainment Industry
This one-day conference is co-hosted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Loyola Law School Los Angeles, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Law (SJU), Peking University School of Law (PKU), Beijing Film Academy (BFA) and Shanghai Film Group (SFG).
Goals for Conference:
1.Discuss current issues in the U.S. and Chinese entertainment law before the Chinese audience of businesses, academics, and practitioners in order to increase their knowledge of the current environment.
2.effects of China’s IP environment on developments in the entertainment sector in China.
3.Discuss the illicit streaming devices (IDC) piracy and explore the scope of the problem and possible/emerging solutions.
4.Discuss opportunities and challenges for collaboration and investment in the entertainment sector.
5.Offer comparative perspectives on best practices and challenges in protecting content in China and the United States.
6.Discuss opportunities for commercializing content in China and the US and the legal environment supporting those efforts.
7.Discuss potential areas of IP-related legal reform to further develop opportunities for US and Chinese businesses in the entertainment sector.
8.Improve engagement with key figures in US and Chinese entertainment law; develop a framework for subsequent engagements/discussions/research.
