【不离】法王如意宝：越有钱有势，越要看得起别人
越有钱有势，对周围的人越要看得起
The More Wealth and Power You Have, the More You Should Esteem Those around You
当自己的地位越来越高时，对下面的人越要有慈悲心，
As your status increases, you need to have ever greater compassion and loving-kindness for everyone below you.
对上面的人也不能卑躬屈膝，
At the same time, do not grovel before the people above you.
应当做到不卑不亢。
Be neither haughty nor overly humble.
在古代藏地，像松赞干布、赤松德赞、赤热巴巾，都是以佛法护持国政的大国王、大法王，
In ancient Tibet, great rulers and Dharma kings such as Songtsen Gampo, Trisong Detsen, and Tri Ralpachen all conducted state affairs through the Buddhadharma.
他们虽然地位高高在上，但行为上对所有众生都慈悲对待，尤其对可怜的众生更是如此。
Despite their superior position, they always acted with compassion and loving-kindness toward all beings, especially the wretched.
有些人只要拥有了一定地位，就开始对下面的人疾言厉色，
Some people, as soon as they gain a little status, start to speak and act harshly to those beneath them.
对上面的人则摇头摆尾地巴结，
Yet they fawn over their superiors, nodding their heads and wagging their tails,
以此想换取更多的世间财色。
hoping to receive more esteem and money in return.
还有些人虽然得到了高位，但没有为自他带来什么利益，
Then there are those who have attained high status but not brought themselves or others much benefit.
比如有些高僧大德，对众生和佛法没做出任何贡献，
For instance, there are some eminent monks and masters who have not contributed anything to the lives of beings or to the Buddhadharma.
这种人就像黑暗中的装饰品一样，谁也看不见。
These people are like ornaments in the dark—unseen by all.
此外，作为有权势的人，还应该赏罚分明，
In addition, as a person of power and influence, you should be discerning in meting out rewards and punishments.
谁做得好，就应赐予相应的奖励。
Those who have acted well should be duly rewarded.
如同在格萨尔王时代，利他心比较强的人，才会被选作大臣。
For instance, during the time of King Gesar, only people with a strong wish to benefit others would be chosen as ministers.
总之，与人人都和睦相处，并且具有慈悲心，对上者恭敬，对下者爱护，也不贪求自己的财利名声，
In short, live in harmony with everyone, have compassion and loving-kindness, respect superiors, care for subordinates, and do not chase after fame and fortune.
这种人可以当首领。
A person of this ilk can be a leader.
