Volunteer Role: TED Translators
Organization Description:
TED is the wildly popular global media nonprofit dedicated to spreading ideas about many topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages on ted.com and platforms around the world. TED is owned by TED Foundation, a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation.
TED Translators are a global community of volunteers who subtitle TED Talks to help big ideas crisscross languages and borders. With access to our unique, supportive community and cutting-edge content, volunteers who participate in the TED Translators program not only enhance their personal and educational development but also enrich the knowledge of viewers worldwide.
Role Description:
We are looking for bright and inquisitive volunteers who want to sharpen their language skills and spark positive change in the world. As a TED Translator, you will:
- gain real-world experience by translating fascinating content
- collaborate with peers and mentors to enhance your language and subtitling skills
- get an opportunity to participate in giveaway contests and apply to attend TED events
- join a global community and get invitations to TED Translators meetups in your region
Location：
Remote. TED Translators use free online subtitling tool to subtitle talks and collaborate with other volunteers.
Requirements:
- Volunteer translators should be fluent in both source and target languages
- Volunteer transcribers should be fluent in the transcription language
- Volunteers should be knowledgeable of subtitling best practices
Job Type:
Unpaid Volunteer.
TED credits volunteer for their contributions on their TED profile page and TED's video player.
