迪利普·嘉韦利（DILEEP JHAVERI）:

1943年4月3日出生于印度孟买。国际著名诗人、资深编辑、剧作家及翻译家。著有古吉拉特语诗集《般度王之诗及其它》《众韵之诗》、英语诗集《迷雾初敛》、《火以多脚本书写》、《幻术与奇迹》、《明漪》（后由Gabriel Rosenstock译为爱尔兰语）、散文集《三面窗户的房子》、戏剧《毗耶娑之一息》（取材自史诗《摩诃婆罗多》）。译著有古吉拉特语当代诗选《吐气如辞》（英译）等。荣获“批评家奖”、“ 古吉拉特文学协会诗歌奖”、“ Jayant Pathak奖”、金奈图书博览会“ 卡鲁纳尼迪奖”等。作品被译为英语、日语、爱尔兰语、马来西亚语及罗马尼亚语等。应邀参加“亚洲诗人大会”及“南亚文学协会年会”（费城）、赴美国乔治敦大学、长岛大学、威廉帕特森大学等多家世界名校讲学。

▍魔术师

人人坚信

诗人即魔术师

他使用的是那些

涌现报端的词汇

关于民众——事故、强奸、谋杀、战争、胜利、惨败、贫穷

关于名流——大婚、生子、流产、离异、绯闻秘事

设立目标、输掉比赛、冠军折桂、院线上映

市场行情、通货膨胀、经济衰退

会议、选举、民意投票、极端宗教、镇压

外星人着陆

在掌声雷动的观众面前

他用一只

弯曲如上帝立约之虹[1]的手臂

从另一只手中卷成尖筒的报纸里

抽出一束茉莉花，一只雪白兔子或一只白鸽

那是替他们为存在的困惑寻找答案

他攒出一个幻梦的世界

而后他上演杂耍大戏

一个球、两个……三四五个……

疏离、孤独、消失的森林、鱼群与鸟、上帝、爱

突然间他失手了

他的语词滚落在台上

转瞬无踪

他羞愧难当

试图

以红色丝绸方巾掩面

却在表演消失时

一败涂地

他绊倒在到处滚落的小球上

因为诗歌以铁链锁住了他

无路可逃

Conjuror

Everybody believes

that Poet is a magician

He uses words

familiar like those in newspapers

People, accidents, rape, murder, war, victory, defeat, poverty

celebrity- marriage, new birth, miscarriage, divorce, clandestine affairs

goals made, lost matches, champion’s trophy, film releases

market, inflation, recession

conferences, elections, opinion polls, religious extremism, oppression

landing of aliens

And from the folded cone of the newspaper held in one hand

pulls out a bouquet of jasmines, a snowy rabbit or a white dove

with his other hand

curving like a rainbow of covenant

Before the clapping audience

that is seeking an answer for their problem of existence

he conjures up a world of dreams

And then he starts his juggling trick

With one ball, two balls, three-four-five.....

alienation, loneliness, disappearing forests and fishes and birds, God, love

and suddenly misses

with his words falling down and rolling away

on the stage

Out of shame

he tries to hide his face

behind the large red silk kerchief

But fails

in his disappearing act 

and collapses over his scattered balls

Because Poetry has bound him in a chain from which

there is no escape

▍与树语

树与树低声密语

一棵树将嫩芽拔节的枝条递向另一棵

另一棵稳稳接住一只鸟窝

一棵棕赭的树皮上爬满苔藓

另一棵树干上蝶群栖聚

一棵将遮蔽另一棵的叶簇移开 以同沐日光

而土壤之下另一棵将它的根系牵引向水源

树也会书写，在风的册页上

你必须知晓与芬芳

晨露、雨滴与雪花对应的代码

它们的笔触在湖面绘出月光

孩提时代你常彻夜不眠

起身去独自游荡

的确，松鼠不曾在我们桌上欢跳

小鸟也从未在椅背上歇脚

然而我们制作上发条、会拍翅膀的木头小鸟时

如此自得其乐

从古老废墟挖出木工粗拙的牛车

我们玩耍木船、木火车、木飞机

当然，还有挎着木剑的木士兵

我们向用锯木装扮成的圣人祈祷

还用树木做十字架

现在我们祈求这张纸的宽恕

为当初未曾与树商量

Conversation with Trees

Trees converse with each other

One tree bends a branch trembling with nascent leaflets to other

The other steadily holds up a nest

One shows green lichen spreading on its brown bark

Other has caterpillars crawling over its trunk

One turns its foliage from the other to share sunlight

Under the earth the other tugs its roots to where dampness is

Trees write also, on the sheets of winds

One has to know the script of fragrances

and dew, raindrops and snow as well

They paint on moonbeams and lake waters

As a child how often you kept awake

and left for solitary wanderings!

True, the squirrels do not scurry over our tables

nor do the birds perch on the chairs

But we rejoice making wooden toys

of birds flapping their stringed wings

Dig up clumsily carved bull-carts from ancient ruins

We have played with boats, cars, trains and aeroplanes of wood

And of course, the wooden soldiers with wooden swords

And prayed to saints fashioned from logs

and cut a cross from a tree

And now we beg forgiveness from this paper

for not having conversed with the trees

▍石之诉

主啊，你的浩荡之师

与巨剑强戈

你的忍耐如此渺博无边

击打我

我绝不以盾相抗，只携带我谦卑的呼吸

我赤诚相见

一块从母石上剥落的孤石

没有残存的欲望，没有期冀

没有负隅顽抗之力

将我碎为齑粉

或许能从中萃取出一点

 一滴甘润

仿佛淡出的音符

请像对马西亚斯[1]一样活剥了我吧

[1]马西亚斯他有一手绝活，那就是吹奏双管笛。他十分骄傲，向音乐之神、太阳神阿波罗发出挑战。阿波罗的乐器是里拉琴，在演奏的过程中，两个人的水平不相上下，于是阿波罗提出，他可以将里拉琴倒过来演奏。但是双管笛无法倒过来演奏，所以马西亚斯输了。按照约定，阿波罗提出胜利者的要求，那就是剥掉马西亚斯的皮。

死亡犹如

一期一会之花

死亡是通往

无界虚空之门

死亡宛若彗星

带你策马疾奔

去到你幻想的国度

死亡是一只在你无尽长梦中鸣啭的小鸟

死亡是一首你从未哼唱或听过的歌曲

但却随时能脱口而出

死亡可能以任何形态显现

威慑惊吓肆虐

它耐心迅捷杀气腾腾满怀慈悲

它默不作声它声嘶力竭

Death is a flower

that blooms once in your lifetime

Death is a door opening into a void

that never had a wall

Death is a comet

taking you along for a horse ride

Death may come in any form
