There was once a little bird.

很久很久以前，有一只小鸟。

She sang a lot. 

她很爱唱歌。

Everyone was happy.

每个人都很开心。

The king saw the little bird.

国王看见了这只小鸟。

He said, "Come and live in this lovely cage."

他说，“来吧，住在这个可爱的小笼子里吧。”

"Sing little bird!" said the king.

“唱呀，小鸟！”国王说。

The little bird did not sing.

但是小鸟并不唱歌。

She was too sad.

她很伤心。

Then the king said, "Here is some food for you."

于是国王说，“这是给你吃的美味佳肴。”

"Now, sing little bird, sing."

“现在可以了吧，唱吧小鸟，唱吧。”

But the little bird did not sing.

但是小鸟并不唱歌。

She was very sad.

她非常伤心。

Now the king was very sad, too.

现在国王也非常伤心了。

Then the king let the bird out.

于是国王把小鸟放了出去。

"Go little bird, go!" he said.

“走吧小鸟，走吧！”他说。

She went up and up and up.

她往天上飞去，越飞越高。

Then the little bird was happy.

这时小鸟开心了。

She sang and sang and everyone was happy.

她唱了又唱，每个人都开心了。

The king was happy, too.

国王也非常开心。
